Hello people and welcome to Helix Aurora's recruitment thread version 2.0

My name is Marfy aka "Freya Wolfbane" in-game and firstly I would just like to quickly go over our very short Free Company History just to bring you up to date!

Okay a good RL friend and I created Helix Aurora not long before Christmas in hope that we would find like minded members to join us. We wanted to make a Free Company that would fit in around a busy adult life like our own. We were looking for people that were more active of an evening, be it because of work, family or other RL commitments and that were happy to JUST play the game as well as progress through the story.

We tried a few recruitment posts and also in-game recruiting but we didn't get any response and it kind of put us off, but we thought we would keep trying as we had already got to Rank 3 by ourselves . Then we managed to convince a friend of ours to give FF a try and he loved it and joined our merry little group. So we had 2 Tanks Jasminum Nudiflorum the guy that help me set up the Free Company and Karbon Vindex our friend we forc....... I mean encouraged to try FF, 1 Damage Dealer that's me Black Mage extraordinaire Freya Wolfbane XD and....... wait..... that was it!!
Fortunately Jasminum started a Healer up and we started running dungeons as an almost full 4 man Free Company, this worked quite well for a while but we really wanted to get our Forth Man!! so we kept trying and much to our surprise we had a reply in our post!! and after reading the great reply we knew we had found our 4th Man......... or should I say Woman "Idun Lockheed" our very own friendly,hard hitting Dragoon. We welcomed her with open arms into our group and she fits in with us like a glove and this my friends brings us up to our current standing as a Free Company.

So we have 4 members that are still progressing through the main story although we are pretty close to finishing all at level 50 and all that are in no rush, and still happy to play all the lower level content because we find it fun.

We are looking for at LEAST 4 more members that can look at our little list (see below) and think "yeah these dudes look like my kind of Free Company"

Our morals towards the game:

1. We play for fun first and foremost, progression is just a really awesome byproduct of having a good time online.

2. Elitist attitudes are great for some people but in our FC they stink, we are only human and can only play as well as our minds and body let us.

3.We know that Real Life comes first so if a team mate can't get online or has to quickly leave we won't hold that against them (unless they do it out of spite then we take action XD)

4.We are always happy to help our friends in any way we can and will do so even if that means no reward for us, although if it is us that needs help we won't beg and pester for it.

5. We play our roles because we enjoy playing that role we will not just start a new one because we are told to (unless the person is much stronger than you and also standing at your front door )

6. we understand that sometimes people are new to content and will always ask what they wan't to do, we won't just drag them along because we can.

We are looking to keep our FC small, about 30 players would be our maximum number of members.

In an ideal world we are looking for people that can read what we have put so far and think "yep this sounds perfect for me" and also members that would fill in the missing gaps we have as roles for a full 8 man raid group as this is what we are about to face, but I know that we can't all get what we want as soon as we wan't it so all are welcome to join us.

But just so you know here is a quick list of possible roles we need to build our first raid group:

2 Damage Dealers, either Monk or Bard

2 Healers, as although Jasminum is a great healer he still favors a Tanky role. Either White Mage or Scholar.

Just to reiterate we aren't just looking for level 50 members we are happy to welcome anywhere from 1 - 50 as we are in no rush at all, infact we would rather have a lower level member join instead of level 50 so that we can get to know the play style better as well as the member themselves.

Well I should start by saying, I am already a part of a free company, like you, I started mine with friends- 4 of us in total. We don't want to leave our little company either, but I was thinking maybe we could still team up? I've heard a lot of people aren't all that patient in the later dungeons so I'm put off using the duty finder for them... I thought I'd look on the forums to see if anyone else a little more casual and friendly might want to do some of the higher level content when we're ready

I'd also have to point out one of our members is a tank, but he might be able to pick up another class if needed- of course it would take him a while to level. I am a bard, we also have a black mage and a scholar. A couple of our members aren't that near 50 yet, but they will be soonish hopefully. I do totally understand if you're just looking for members though, rather than just people to do dungeons with, just thought I'd throw it out there as an idea

No i understand that when you make your own FC, guild or what have you, you don't want to leave it especially if like in the FC system in FFxiv with ranks .

I would be more than happy to have an alliance with your FC my friend.

I will add you to my friends list asap or if you see me online first feel free to give me a shout.

It would be great to play some of the later dungeons and raids with you guys, as you are right and people can really be inpatient.

As for your tank, I would not expect them to hop on to another class unless they really wanted to, but that's a really nice gesture

Maybe we could set up a linkshell for both our FC's

Hello,

I recently started playing again after a few months off and the FC I was part of appears to be deserted. I'm looking for something like what you guys have - I don't have the luxury of being able to play as much as I'd like so I can't really commit to the demands of most FC's but I would like to have people to speak to when I'm online.

Main job is a 35 WHM - slowly but surely working my way up.

My playtime is erratic at best, I work a very varied shift pattern which includes nights so I will randomly disappear for days at a time.

Would like to say that if you are considering joining us please make sure that you are looking to be part of a community like our's.
I know you are probably thinking well i wouldn't ask to join if i didn't want to be, but we have had a few people that ask to join and then when they join within a night they vanish.... just up and go?!?.. no "sorry but i decided that your FC is not the one for me"

I can understand that people might not get what they expected it to be like, although the OP explains exactly who we are and what we do!

We love to get new members because although we would like all these different roles and such we are more in it for the "meeting new people and socializing together aspect"

Hi. I've quit duty finder because I just don't want to speedrun (ever) and can't stand impatience and intolerance for mistakes that many players have. I tried to set up a group today in party finder for Pharos Sirius, with criteria as slow and easy, newcomer's welcome, no cutscene skipping, and added in notes that I was less concerned with clearing than having a no pressure run, so please be OK with mistakes / wipes. Only one person showed interest in 3 hours and then I had to give up for a bit.

I'm in a free company at the moment and the guys are pretty cool but I don't like to ask them to come on "for fun" runs, when I know they will but would rather be speed running for tomes, so I decided to come on the forums and see if any other like minded players were about. Really, the thing I'm looking for most of all is to log on in an evening and play a dungeon just to enjoy it with a group. I don't care if the other players are completely noob and can't get the tactics easily (cause that's often me anyway), so long as they can treat each other with respect and try to work together then I'm having fun.

I have a White Mage at lvl50, but I'm always happy to run lower level stuff with others before playing lvl50 stuff. I mainly play evenings but can't always get on for a certain time cause I have to get Kids to bed and stuff, but I know you guys are chilled about that

Do you think that I might fit in well with you guys? Sounds like a great group but I have a couple questions:

1. The duty roulette gives an awesome tomes bonus, and I hoped this could mean playing casually each night while steadily gearing up, but it seems every lv50 duty roulette run WILL be a speedrun for quick tomes by default. It's not so much that I hate clearing the dungeon fast and skipping cutscenes on repeat runs. I get that end game gear needs a grind but it's the bad attitudes and intolerance for mistakes in the duty roulette runs I can't stand. I thought the whole idea of the bonus would be to support new players and keep the story mode dungeons alive. I do want to progress eventually, and I'm not even sure if a casual player doing a few lvl50 dungeons a week (without bonus) could EVER realistically get geared up for the next content, but I just can't play that way with those people no more. How do you guys feel about it and do you use the duty roulette / duty finder much?
2. I get the impression you guys are very sociable and chat a lot. Sometimes I like to just play solo for a while or an evening and not chat at all, while other times I like to join in and have a little yap. Is that cool?
3. How much commitment to be online regularly are you looking for? If a player goes AWOL for a couple weeks, will the locks have changed on the door to the free company house or will they be welcomed back with open arms?
