In game Economy issues?

So I just started playing this game on January 3rd approximately and I hit 50 with my Warrior a little over 2 weeks ago. After spending some gil slightly unwisely, I decided I needed to start saving up because I am currently pretty poor (50k ish total) But after watching a bunch of gil making strat videos I have noticed that the market is not nearly what it used to be back before 2.1 supposedly. So I tried to find something that was still selling for a decent price and sell that, however very quickly a bunch of people undercut me, making it look like the rest of the market.

So all in all my question is: Is there someway to make decent gil that doesn't involve the market? AND/OR Are there plans to fix the market somehow (with maybe some dailies coming up that reward more then just 700 gil) or something like that?

<Someone told me to level up a gatherer and sell crystals, so I did but the most expensive crystal (not shard; crystal) on my server is 41 gil per (WTH?!?). I have done a bunch of looking around in and out of game but still haven't found a halfway decent way to make gil besides becoming a master crafter, which seems a little unfair to me.>

Even if it were to last much longer, the only good materia selling is for tier 4 on my world and that isn't exactly easy to do in my experience.

Do daylies, do your roulettes, do treasure maps, sell every item you find to the AH if it is worth something ( I sell things even worth as little as 30g) then npc everything else. I don't go out of my way to make money, and I don't use my crafting either yet somehow I make 100k+ a week. Many high end crafters would even tell you that crafting doesn't make them much profit. That isn't an entirely untrue statement, but it can be difficult to play the market when it is so saturated.

maybe because I'm feeling a bit cynical or pessimistic today, or maybe it's the lack of sleep but beyond saving up for housing and doing pentamelds (if that's your thing), SE doesn't give you much of a reason to hoard gil. iLvl 90 items are farmable/droppable, HQ food is dirt cheap these days (I think HQ buttons are like 80g more expensive than regular on my server), and gear repairs are on par with tele costs. If I could see my gil and put it in a house and /swim all Scrooge McDuck style, then I'd be finding ways to get as much as possible asap.

part of me thinks that this is just some elaborate conspiracy SE has and that maybe SE does understand t3h 3c0NoM1c5 more than they let on. With no market in which to spend gil, there is no market for the gil sellers and RMTs. SE brilliance? you decide!

Alright well that sure does seem like a hell of a lot to do for only 100k, plus don't you need 8 people for treasure hunts? I don't exactly have that at my disposal, and even if I were to pug them or join a big FC (which Im more influenced to do the first) it would still be a lot of work for like 1600 plus if you get the roll on the material you can sell it on the market for a crappy price.
Also about crafting possibly not making good money: That sucks, and means it is even harder than I thought to make gil.

So for those that don't have as many openings as me, yes it can be hard, but not hard that it's an impossible goal.

While I completely understand what you are getting at, there are still things that are too expensive to afford in these kind of ideals. I.E. materia tier 4 if you want to materia out your gear, and housing. While some may be thinking "you don't have to get a house" that is true, however I also don't have to upgrade my gear, or do any lvl 50 content, or level up. It isn't fair to make some things dirt cheap (and gil hard to make) but yet not make other things so cheap.

So no, I don't think it is brilliance.

Yay, I can put forth to get 1 piece of VIT materia a week and can spend months trying to get housing if I want to be at less than 1k gil afterward.
