what you call baseless closely relates to labeling theory in my eyes. Words have stigmas attached to them that cause them to develop preconceived notions. It is not difficult to come up with a easy creative and definitively correct term for these instances, if SE chooses to name it "raid" w/e i just want people to stop flaming with the statement "What you want it pointless and I think the game needs ______ because that's more important".

Can you even read what I wrote? I don't think the thread is pointless. I never even used the word. I said that the stigma is baseless and potentially harmful to the evolution of the game. That's the complete opposite of "pointless". I want people to stop freaking out over the word because it literally has no effect on the kind of content the game will see.

With that post above kept in mind, you are stating that you did not think this thread was pointless? Because if not then you got me i miss read into your post.

And with your new assertions i agree stigmas are bad and should be avoided at all coasts, it would be great to change the way people think everywhere so that stigma's didn't exist for the greater good. However the stigma does exist and the easiest way around it is coming up with a simple yet creative name change and avoiding it.

well i would like to add that raid isnt a WoW term. Everquest had raiding too and was released 5 years prior... And maybe another older one like Anarchy Online had it, but i never played that far into that one. so enough about that. Also.... its just a word! A new one can always be made up by us FF players, and maybe they will have a word for it when the dungeons come out.

No. I think the thread and stigma associated with the terms is stupid. That doesn't make it pointless.
