Talk about baseless accusations... I wont even dignify this with a response other than.I have to wonder if we even have the same definition of "Zerg," much less of "raid;" because by the definition of "Zerg" that I'm working with, I've zerged more NMs in XIV than I ever zerged anything in WoW, which is especially sad when you consider how long I played WoW versus how long I've played XIV.
At any rate, it's rather sad that the word "raid" fills you with such negative emotions. Even sadder is the fact that, as I pointed out before, "raid" isn't even a term used all that often by WoW players when talking to each other. I guarantee you that, had you regularly played WoW, you wouldn't have heard the term nearly as often. This is probably why I don't associate the two at all, really. So, basically, it's a stigma attached by outsiders to something they've never experienced. Well, they did experience it (in FFXI); but they refuse to acknowledge that what they experienced is this unholy "raid" thing. . .
You know nothing of me, to make any of your claims valid.
Hmm. . . only so many ways to interpret this. Option one, you're upset about my first paragraph, which I find doubtful. Option two, you're upset that I'm claiming you have a negative reaction to the term "raid," which I'm pretty sure is a fair claim. Option three, you're upset that I'm implying you didn't play much of WoW. I'm guessing it's option three, but, please, do tell me if I'm wrong.
Well first paragraph was completely unnecessary, seeing as i never claimed that FFXIV did not have ZERG content. ZERG content is ZERG content its in many games i never attached the two terms to FFXIV and WoW for comparison to make the point that the stigma exists, you attempted to put those words in my mouth through an assumption.Hmm. . . only so many ways to interpret this. Raid just reminds me of the same old song and dance, ZERG and LOOT at the end, nothing sad about that; like i have stated and you have ignored if the term "raid" stays i ultimately don't care, i would just prefer something more creative in the end.
You say raid was rarely used.
-your word against mine-
I say i herd it all the time.
And i had plenty of experience in WoW, so your last claim is completely baseless and falls apart, seeing as your assuming Im an outsider to the game which i was not.

Reika, the fact that the word did not come from Wow has been made clear already, we are simply pointing out the sour taste it puts in some peoples mouths. I agree with Bled.. its not goign to make me quit the game, however I suggest that another name be used as it may bring more negative feeling to the game, especially for people who are new to the game or maybe are looking into the game. Raid is bland anyways... SE could most certainly think of a better word... Like Plunderage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I don't think some other people got that message either heh.Reika, the fact that the word did not come from Wow has been made clear already, we are simply pointing out the sour taste it puts in some peoples mouths. List of names that would work go!
Riot
Rampage
Plunder
Assault
Siege
Invasion
Hostile Takeover
Blitzkrieg
.....
.....
.....
(Full Attack!)
And all that is just from looking at a thesaurus, and most of those words would work.
As i see it we have two groups:
1. group one thinks the term raid is bland, generic, boring, bad stigma, and over used.
2. Its just a word i could care less.
If there is a third group please point it out are there people out there that truly think that Final Fantasy XIV needs to refer to these instances as raids?
Because as far as i see it if you only have those two groups then by basic logic it makes more sense to just call it something else.

We could just call it an Adventure...
