I play games, I see no point in watching others do it .. that fact that large numbers of people consider WOW an e-sport is sad.
I stream. Mostly raids, but I'll stream random stuff, too. I'm sure not everyone cares how I do my dailies, lol.
But 90% of the time I do Coil or CT or Extremes, I'll stream it.
swishytailzero @ Twitch if anyone cares to check it out.
Like some said before a significant portion of people who watch streams tend to watch them because of the streamer's personality and to help support the streamer . Generally people only watch streams for the sake of seeing the gameplay is if the game is in beta, they have not bought/played it or are nostalgic.
Another reason people would be watching the streams for the gameplay is because the streamer is a skilled player and they want learn something e.g strats. Common in e-sports like LoL and the FGC .But FFXIV is very straight forward atm and a bit stagnant content wise.

Stream what exactly? 150 wipes on t5, or the one kill on t5? Other than that what are you going to stream? Crafting stuff, running in circles in toll, or doing crazy easy content no one wants to watch a stream on?
I stream every coil and extremes and off days I stream PvP and other things.

Speaking as someone who grew up on console games with several siblings... watching someone else play a video game is one of the most boring things on earth. Perhaps would-be streamers have come to their senses and realized that no one cares?
i stream every now and then, but other than dungeons/primals there isnt much to watch
I was actually wondering if SE could stream dungeons like LoL does matches. Have it be an option from the login screen or from the inn. Can you imagine the inns with giant tv's showing current raids? Maybe with choices for "First Timers" that shows runs with first timers, "Commendables" which looks at the total number of commendations party members have received, "Player Search", or "Random". Then you could watch your FC do a run and cheer them on. It might also get more newer people watching videos of content without feeling like they are being forced to watch a strategy video before even setting foot in a dungeon. And maybe - very faint hope here - it would curb rude/abusive behavior in dungeons.
Forcing users to be logged in to watch may keep a lid on abusive comments from the audience, but I realize there are probably a lot of exploitable loopholes in this that I haven't thought of. I've never bothered to watch streaming games myself except for LoL.
