Been there. I even stopped using DF, and didnt enter the dungeon in question (twas actualy a Trial) for a week or so because I was so disheartened.....I then made friends, and asked them to do it with me. It was sooo easy. I couldn't understand. Sometimes, its just the team. I levelled a little, and ran lower level fights to practice my skills etc...which may have helped...

Regards Quarn, though. There is an exploit I use as healer (I wont post it here) which means I never get Doom. And I macro/noise for Doom and Bees. The tank pulls them off me, and Doom is never a problem. I just stand in my position, static, for the whole fight. Sometimes I still have to do a rez, but generally its quick.

Sounds ike your team was just not used to the fight. Don't take it to heart, and run it again. In that fight, as healer, you need the bees controlled by tank - if they arent doing that, then thats their error. And Doom? Well if there are multiple deaths on that...you can't heal doofs. You can rez them, but it don't cure doofness.

Hello, many people feel like you at times. Usually when a team can't make it or has a lot of problems, it's not just one member's fault. Tanks and healers are the most visible, that's why less people play them.
When I did Qarn for the first time as a PLD I was not good. Anyway we won (with many wipes on 1st boss, a couple on last.) I repeated for practice thinking I would do better and second time it was impossible to pass the first boss. Wasps would always kill me, somebody died by doom, etc. Next try was better.
I feel very bad when I think I am ruining other's runs. Many times I choose not to do high level DR for this reason. If you are unlucky with the team, you may blame yourself, even if other times the run was smooth and easy.
Most people are very nice. Funny when one blames another and is rude, the one blaming usually is not playing well and has a lot of fault. Try not to get too upset if it happens to you (difficult, I know.)

Ask the other healer how he does it, and take what seemed like an advice/improvement to your style and get rid of ones that doesn't make sense to you. Ask the team if they feel like you're doing anything wrong. That's what I usually do, I don't know if it helps with everybody but I definitely realize this awkward moment exists for all healers. Even if the tank said you're not healing enough, you probably know it in your heart that you did or did not, so those "not healing enough" things are actually stuff you don't have to be told about, so yourself is also one more person you need to ask. Other than that, keep practicing and think of the rewards after beating that extra hard boss!

If you have problems killing the heart it's usually a group problem (either there are always 2 or more dead or DPS is too low), and probably you won't make it after the heart where it gets much harder. After the heart, if it's always the same people who die, those are the problem (maybe they lag or don't have too much HP or need more practice.) If other members are good enough, you may make it with just one or two who die several times (healer that raises the other healer more than once and manages to keep the tank alive, tank dodges and uses well cooldowns, other people don't die too much.)

99% of the wipes that happen when I heal is either the tank was undergeared and pulled too much or the DPS standing in stuff. The 1% comes from accidental Regen before Flash/Overpower or I clicked off the tank and was healing myself and not them.

That first boss is a pain in the butt and should never have you consider your worth as a healer. It is a 50/50 win-lose for me everytime and there is nothing you can do about people that don't listen/do mechanics.

Just take a deep breath and continue on!

Covering for people's mistakes is not the job of the healer. Having a good healer can help pull a bad group through their mistakes, but if you fail because people are taking avoidable damage and you just can't heal through it, that's not your fault.

If you notice people making mistakes, say something and give them pointers on how to be better. You can try to fix people being stupid, but you sure as hell shouldn't be trying to heal it.

    Its simple, really.

Were you healing properly? you can easily heal 4 adds at the same time, or any boss if that's the case.

NOW, I said that you can heal no problems with all of that, it doesnt mean that your mp will last...if your mp runs out in a boss fight, its mostly the party's fault (unless you were spamming cure II and III, then you have no forgiveness)

Of course, remember that you cant heal spam, this is white mage is different to other cleric classes on other MMOS, like aion for example, where you could just spam heal and buffs, AND DPS, not caring about MP or aggro.

Also, if DPS is dying to AOES, that's also not your fault

All in all, the one that knows if you are doing well or not, its yourself. keep your head up, and keep healing. you will do better and better with each time

Quarn -- first time I felt the same way.

One thing that's helped alot on the first boss fight (since the DPS almost always seem to fail at killing adds quickly in most pugs) is to just keep stoneskin up on the tank as much as possible. Even if the tank eats a final sting, stoneskin will usually keep him alive with enough health to survive until the next heal/regen tick hits. Once I see the wasps pop/start being killed, I put a stoneskin and a regen on the tank just in case.

You need to remember that sometimes the tank dying is their own fault! I had a tank rage at me for dying...when he ate a DOOM!
