With the reveal of the Astrologian job, its star globe and the divining deck, it seemed like a good time to revisit this thread.

It's feasible that the names and imagery of the divining cards, besides having references to the Twelve, may reference in-game constellations. The night sky does seem to have groups of large, bright stars which glow the same colors as elemental crystals, and the divining cards also match the six elements. Three of the cards are similar to real-world Zodiac signs: Balance/Libra, Ewer/Aquarius, Arrow/Sagittarius. Or am I seeing a pattern where there isn't one?

I'm pretty sure there are constellations. It's just that there isn't anything documented in-game, or by the community, yet.

So I was doing some Sahagin dailies today and it was around 8pm Eorzea time. During that time (during sunset) only the brightest stars in the sky are visible and it's easier to distinguish unusual ones from the normal stars. I was looking around and saw that some stars in the sky have some particular colouring, and I took some screenshots of groups I thought might be constellations. Then, I used Photoshop to isolate the main colours of the stars and used them to draw in theories of what the constellations might be. Note: most of my theories on the constellation shapes are pure speculation on my part since I think the constellations will be the Twelve - given previous discussion of the Astrologian cards and stuff. Not sure if anyone here is still active, but I got bored one evening when I was unable to play the game and started thinking to myself: How big is the planet and the Sun?

Well, given the fact we actually get a near-half shot of Hydaelyn from space in one of the old pre-release trailers (which was then used in the actual opening movie when you start ARR for the first time), and considering most of the visible hemisphere of the planet in this view seems nearly taken up completely by the Eorzean landmasses....



Hence, looking at this image, it appears.... not very big at all. Probably as big as Earth's moon (or possibly a little bigger), but definitely not Earth-sized. I seem to recall the really old thread on the old forum went into discussion about this very thing though.

Has anyone seen where the Dragon Star is in the sky? It's apparently so important to Isgardian astrology (to the point of tunnel vision), but I'm still not sure where it's at.....
