That's very interesting to read and reading what NeoAmon mentions makes me wonder and think into this a bit more.
I did read the delay as the delay to attack be it auto or an action of sorts weap/cast but i guess coming from other mmos including ffxi it made me think otherwise.

I try to stay more crit based gear wise so with the Elder still kinda works for me but i will check out some numbers and read around since you mentioned the +1 seems better crit or not, might just go SS if that's the case.

Either way thanks for bringing that to my attention

edit: thinking about it all though, i don't think the dps between the ex weap and +1 is going to come up that big, would love to hear any numbers you found.

I'm a crit/det person myself, but I can see the spellspeed argument.

On BLM it doesn't run you out of resources more quickly like it would on other classes. You just get to your regen phase faster. So you're spitting more spells faster and there's no problem! Maybe you upset the regen phase a bit if you're too quick, but just throw another scathe in there or something?

Great thanks everyone! I think i'm going to go with the blm extreme weapon! I'll stick with zenith for whm and sometime in the distant future ill upgrade to zenith for blm too

Speed is better than det/crit for blm and quite a few of other jobs as well; I've been saying this over and over again but people won't listen cuz they either like to talk out of their asses or copy others do talk out of their asses without actually testing and calculating it themselves. Eventually, I just stopped caring. Speed does require you to maximize your up-time as much as possible though.

In the end though, it is a moot point, the differences in 2ndary stats hardly matters.

That said, the difference between SS and Crit builds in terms of overall DPS gains is between 3 and 5 DPS (out of roughly 310). This also doesnt factor in how movement could devalue either of the stats, making the results ambiguous. Long story short? Play how you want, with whatever pieces are available to you. If you're like me and have never seen Allagan caster pants in over 5 months of coil, then taking the spellspeed bonus on AF2 Pants, then gearing the rest of your slots to max out spellspeed, can be very worth it.

This build and that build are better are all opinion and play style imo. Sure on paper you can argue this is better then that, but in use it is no where near 'paper stats'. The advantage I might have on my SS build over someone with a DET build is one sip of my beer mid fight from being negated.
