Provoke! congratulations, you are top of the hate list, now you need to tomahawk or shield lob because the mob was chasing someone else. In the mean time, everyone is still firing off their highest enmity ranged attack and guess what, you can't execute your high enmity skills because the mob is out of range for them. sure, you could get close and holmgang the mob, but good luck pulling it back into place after, because no one will stop doing whatever they can to try to "inadvertantly" pull it off of you.
Until tanks are given the ability to grab hate at range faster than a crazed ilvl91 BLM or BRD, your provoke is not going to do the trick as easily as you seem to depict it.

So you are complaining about using stuff you already have to use after provoke? Ok, then I guess at that point you would be considered a bad tank. Shield Lob/ Tomahawk or enmity skill should be used right after provoke just like I said in my first post here that you choose to ignore. Then you do your combos and other stuff. If I can pull hate off a main tank with provoke and just combos, it shouldn't be hard to get hate from DD. lol

@Huginn: In case you don't know how Provoke works (I assume you do, because you say you've played tanks)

Provoke simply puts you at the one point of enmity higher than the person with the current highest enmity for that mob. Given that a single auto attack is enough to generate more than 1 point of enmity from anyone (no enmity modifiers), you will always follow up with Shield Lob/Tomahawk. Shield Lob/Tomahawk has 3x enmity multipliers, which is calculated to the damage it does.

If you simply Provoke, any DD can take back the aggro. Whether they are iLevel 15, or iLevel 91.

So LoLo is right here. I've never heard of anyone not following up a Provoke with Shield Lob/Tomahawk, or combo'ed Savage Blade/Rage of Halone/Skull Sunder/Butcher's Block.
