This is silly, it's not that no one wants to tank.
It's that not many can tank, because to tank you have to be boss.
Most of you arn't boss.
Therefore there are not many tanks.

but it does just the same and so what if it technically does that. It basically gives you number one on the hate list causing the one with hate to be under you and after awhile the move down the hate list because you are gaining more and more hate.
Provoke! congratulations, you are top of the hate list, now you need to tomahawk or shield lob because the mob was chasing someone else. In the mean time, everyone is still firing off their highest enmity ranged attack and guess what, you can't execute your high enmity skills because the mob is out of range for them. sure, you could get close and holmgang the mob, but good luck pulling it back into place after, because no one will stop doing whatever they can to try to "inadvertantly" pull it off of you.
Until tanks are given the ability to grab hate at range faster than a crazed ilvl91 BLM or BRD, your provoke is not going to do the trick as easily as you seem to depict it.
im ilvl85 & agree 100%,i had to tank KB in lag twice out of last 3Had my tank jimmies rustled for the first time yesterday in a CT run.
My tank is i76, not great, not bad. (For CT anyway)
We get to King Behemoth, someone claims Iron Giant, which I generally do, since people canthe only tank left is me.
Rather than let me get hate and drag it back to the wall, everyone spams their head off, provo
Then people ask what happens, and the other healer in the party that pulled Behe starts flaming me for not learning how to tank, i should just uninstall, yada yada yada.
Spent the rest of that run doing pretty much nothing.
I'll gladly tank anything you want, but please for the love of god, dont go all out if a mob is running around loose.
Spent the rest of the day on my Brd going pew-pew without a care in the world.
times, guess what,3rd time was a wipe afew times, its annoying when no1 calls MT & then ilvl 50 tank tries to mt bosses
They had should named it Troll Tower, because you encounter the most annoying people in there.
1 of 10 Raids in there don´t run smooth, starting from a Tailwhipe at first Trash which kills of half the Raid (80% probability)... to DD´s focusing dumb on the Bone Dragon and kill them off while Tanks spotting of the Skeletons of each other... Ragemeter full after 10 Minutes, not to mention how much BS one single person can pull off in 40-60 minutes and p*** of 23 other ppl![]()
It´s always a relief, when i got the loot for the week, knowing i don´t have to go in there anymore :P
And to give something to the Topic, it´s not the tanks who get the flames, some ppl just want to flame. They see, they shoot, no matter what´s the target
Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...
I'm a tank but I agree on the poor treatment thing. It's almost discouraged me from the role several times. Tanks set the pace of a dungeon run, are expected to know more about fight mechanics, and a large number of the fights put a disproportionate amount of responsibility on the tank. If you lag while DPSing, you often die. But if you lag while tanking, the WHOLE GROUP dies. From my personal experience, it seems like I can do a great (though less than perfect) job as a tank and I'll still get insulted. I'll play a healer or DPS job though and I can watch TV while smashing buttons or lag out where I'm not even doing anything for 2-3 min and nobody even CARES! LOL
I don't think tanking is boring, or at least it's not any more boring than the other roles, which could all use a bit more interesting skill rotations. Just my opinion though.
Tanks should stop acting like the victims. Every other class gets just as much abuse by tank players.
I actually usually play WHM, or Scholar. They are my level 50 classes. I never once got crap on those, like I do when tanking. I mark kill orders, ask people politely, and they still just do what they want then complain to me when I die cause they decide they want to pull extra.
Or they decide to run in and pull aggro before I get a chance to explain a fight to a new player. Yes, this game still gets new players.
