I've played both tanks at 50 and think both are fun on different situations. I'm fine with tanking as long as I've done the dungeon/run 5+ times before. First time is always messy and possibly a wipe fest when I'm trying to figure out what to pull, where to pull, which way to make the mobs face etc. Darkhold and Wanderer's Palace were nightmares to me on first tries and I was ready to give up tanking, but my healer friend kept encouraging me and my tank friend gave me tips and I managed to pull through. I haven't tanked Coil or Extremes, and I don't plan to, as I leveled both tanks only to help my friends to level their classes through dungeons.

Going back to my scholar which is my main, is so relaxing. Can live happily in a bubble of ignorance and bliss. I didn't learn Crystal Tower tactics before I actually took my monk there even though I had done CT ~50 times on scholar before that. Though... Twintania is giving me grey hair as a scholar. x'D

Support roles are more crucial to the teams success it has been like that in every mmo. DD is the most easy and relaxing class to play hence why it's so popular.

let the idiots die, and tell ur healer to stop healing that dps......should only take so many deaths before they learn, or u can get vote kicked, and requeue and get into group with them and troll them
its how i would do it for idiots like that (or u can just report them if they vote kick u) just need to put them in their place

"You pull it, you tank it" is a golden rule, make sure you let them know what happened once they died, too.

Tanking requires some responsibility and knowledge. As a melee I often go in blindly and just don't care, because I can follow the flow, dodge stuff and dps, it's easy enough.

As a tank, I have to know the fight from a different view than anyone else and there's always something "more" I'm expected to know for the fight not to fail. It's fun to me, might be a chore to others.

To answer the question as simply as possible: No one tanks because tanking requires EFFORT.

If by effort, you mean *slightly* more than is required for DPS jobs, sure. It does not require more effort than healing, and it certainly amounts to no effort when compared to tanking anywhere else. You can literally tank in your sleep and still get most things done.

I would like to see you tank Garuda EX, Titan EX, and Ifrit EX in your sleep. And Turn 5 while you're at it.

There's another reason why no one tanks: If I go as my tank into CT, I can't Need on anything other than tank gear. So I go on my BLM, because what I need in CT in BLM gear. The only time I bother going to CT as my tank is when people in my FC need a tank for CT and I can be certain they will let me Greed on things I want.

There's barely any randomness involved. I can tank Garuda EX and Titan EX barely paying attention, as I've done them a ton of times and I know their whole pattern. As for Twintania, I unfortunately do not have as much experience in it yet, but it's all a matter of time.

As much as those fights might appear hard, it's all a matter of getting down their patterns and your answer to each of their move. Once you got that, they become extremely easy, due to the whole fixed pattern thing.

Literally? Methinks you mean figuratively, unless you do actually literally tank with your forehead crashed down on the keyboard while drooling on the space bar. Hehe...

The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
