Personally, I'd like SAM as a DD class.
Instead, I'd like Ninja as an evasion tank~

I would like to see a caster tank. I know a lot of people will disagree, but I think Blue Mage would be an excellent candidate for a tank job.
I sincerely hope that when Sam is released it is not a tank.
I've been wanting to level a melee dps and have not touched mnk/drg except for what was needed to unlock jobs because I'm saving that fun for Sam.
I want DNC tank!
I'd rather the next sword wielding class isn't a tank class to be honest. I only levelled up Paladin instead of Warrior because I liked swords.
The whole ninja tank thing really just needs to be buried. It needed to be buried from the very start in XI but SE neglected to do so.
There definitely needs to be a variety of tanks for the longevity of this game. As of now players think tanking ia boring and with only 2 to choose from.... vs dps.
I can see a dark Knight happening. Using hp to cause more dmg and aggro.
A caster tank will be truly unique
Samurais also makes sense as a tank due to using 2 handed swords + heavy armor.
I can also maybe playing as a garlean gunner as a tank using explosions, lasers and aoe machine gun
I really wish we weren't so strictly forced into this triangle paradigm and had room for more creative gameplay choices. As it is, it will be very hard to differentiate more than a few of the same role and leaves anything trying to be a hybrid or do something different left in the dust.
I think it could work out like this:
Tanks:
Samurai (masterless samurai were often hired as bodyguards, the "yojimbo", so they would fit a protective role)
Rune Fencer
Beastmaster (the tank equivalent of summoner)
DPS:
Ninja
Dark Knight
Corsair
Healers:
Chemist
Time Mage
...that's all I got. Honestly healing is a pretty straightforward job and has almost always just been relegated to WHM in FF games, so I'm not sure how they plan to expand this unless Healer is just going to include every type of support as well.
A lot of people say a new job won't bring any new players to the Tank role, but I'm only a Tank because I thought the Warrior was the coolest looking job in the game. If any other job comes that I really like the looks of, I'll switch to that no problem even if it's a different role. I'm surely not the only player who thinks like this because I'm primarily a FF fan and NOT an MMO fan.
But I really don't want DPS getting to hog ALL the cool jobs like they're trying to. They're already going to have Dragoon, Corsair, Dark Knight, and most likely Ninja. Let the Tanks at LEAST have Samurai.

Is "Templar" really FF?
Other than being an enemy exclusive in FFT I don't remember seeing this job show up on any of the Main FF Titles...
My wish is to put the Dancer to a Tank role.
PLD -> Damage mitigation via skills
WAR -> Damage absorption via sheer HP + more potent damage dealer to end the fight faster
DNC -> Damage recuperation via self-heal (a job branch of PUG since unfortunately daggers belong to GLD)
On a side note, I really wish Dual Wield to be implemented NOT AS A NIN Exclusive but available to any single hand weapon jobs.
However with the current Armoury system and lack of class "trait" sharing it's more likely for a new category of weapons called something like "Dual Blade" to be created![]()
FFTA and TA2, bangaa-only job, spear-wielder and has a variety of anti-mage abilities as well as requiring tanky jobs to unlock.
Not even that arcane of a job, i'd say.
