16-Bit FFXIII recreation published by SE, a Plea

Square-Enix, I believe hundreds of thousands of gamers are calling for a return to the days of old, the glory days of SNES & PSX... before Xbox even existed.

I can tell you, if you started pumping out classic JRPG's with 16-bit sprites like this again... you'd probably make a lot more money off them (accounting also for time & cost-efficiency too) than you would off games like XIII.

Sell them as downloadable indies on PSN & the like, $24.99 or something.

Infuse new life into the classic-bit graphics with your modernized combat-systems & updates for all we care.

I can't tell you how many fans would flip their sh*t if Konami released another true sequel to the Suikoden franchise in their original art-style (I & II)... this trailer you developed is a prime example.

HELL, I bet if you released FFVII's remake in 16-bit, you'd still make millions lol... but also please remake it in modern-age graphics too haha.

I know FFIX especially in 16-bit would do so well.

And probably XII but reimagined as a Tactics-style entry (heck, we already had Balthier in FFT:WotL).

What do you guys think? Should SE release new 16-bit JRPG's like those of old?

I watched the video and thought "I would have liked FF13 if it was 16 bit." Nostalgia is powerful. As FF13 currently exists, I never finished because I bored half way through and put it down.

But, the truth is that they have made some 16 bit games. Final Fantasy Dimensions for iOS was pretty good. Crystal Defenders was not a classic FF (tower defense), but also had older style graphics and was unique. We just want the same feelings we had during FF4 or 6, which won't happen. When a game is truly good, like FF9, it can easily be over shadowed because it still isn't good as those we feel nostalgic toward.

I wouldn't say they should make new 16-bit games. Rather, I think they should do the same they did with IX. Go back to their roots with a medieval fantasy setting, perhaps.

Personally, I just miss the feel of the older 16-bit games, but I don't miss a single second of 16-bit graphics. The FF games of old captivated me much more. I don't know if it's because I'm older now, or because the newer games are lacking something that the older ones had... but I remember feeling heartbroken when Aerith died in FFVII. And even in Crisis Core, I KNEW what was going to happen to Zack but it was still powerful. I still think FFVIII has one of the best stories and I loved every second of that game. And when Cecil became a Paladin for my first time, I felt like I just attained God Mode. When Kain betrayed me for HIS first time, I felt like I lost a friend. Many of SE's games don't have that same power they used to have 5-10, even 15 yrs ago. At least not for me.

But hey, if your interested in playing a newer game with an older feel to it, I would suggest Rainbow Moon. It's not 16-bit graphics (the graphics are actually amazing), but it has that old-school feel to it. I didn't put it down for awhile after I bought it. The story isn't the greatest in the world (very cliche), but the battle system was very good, and everything about it made me feel like I was playing one of those mid-late 90s games with the current-gen polish.

seriously what is the hate for XIII?
I get thats its linear and a series of pretty looking corridors mostly, but so was FFX - in fact all the games are linear just the methods of managing/blocking you arent so obvious e.g. the Migdarzolm in VII

I personally loved XIII, it wasnt perfect but it ticked all the FF boxes for me apart from the battle system I was little mixed on that.
I laughed at parts, I cried at the end and I enjoyed the 130hrs I squeezed out (only missing 3 PSN trophies).

Saying you want SE to perduce 16bit games again and that people would be willing to pay $/£24.99 is madness, I nearly balked at paying £10.99 on my Android phone for FFIII last year, maybe the hardcore would pay it but a lot more people wont and neither would the younger generation who never grew up in the 8bit/16bit golden age.

That could work, just dont start re-hashing VII (badly, or at least that how it felt to me back then) midway through disk 3 lol.
But seriously i did enjoy IX, loved the art style and character design

While I think XII and XIII/XIII-2 were fine games, I do believe it's time to go back to the 1-9 style whether it be retro or more of the PS1. Either way though, the fans will never agree on a new FF; which is why you will never see a FF7 full blown remake.

Judging by 15 I don't know if they will ever have this in mind for future titles.

I personally like the 16 bit- 32 bit sprites of the older games to the new ones. Can you imagine cloud strife remastered in hi def when he goes down and pretends to be dressed as a girl to save tifa? That would ruin it for me xD Was wicked in cheap polygon style and 32 bit/16 bit
