Hello All,
The title pretty much says it all. In this thread I want to dicuss QoL changes that would improve this game dramatically. At least for me. I debated in which section to post this thread as it touches on multiple points that effect every class in game. I picked DPS since it seems to be the most popular to increase chances to be seen by SE. Keep in mind, I do not expect some of these changes to happen over night but over the life span of ARR.
1. Potion Macro & Tweaking their CD (In 2.2 Please)
Potion are like another Cool Down. But sadly, not alot of people use them. I think this is because of their dynamics ( Long Cool Down, Shared Cooldown, Takes up space on hotbar/xbar). As someone who prefers to play on the controller, Space on the Cross Bar is very valueable to me. Would it be too much to ask for to get Potion MACRO's ? They had them in FFXI and also in 1.0 I believe ? So why arent they in AAR ?
Also I think Different type of potions should not share Cool Downs. For Example:1. Mega STR Potion Share CD with Hi-Potion/Potion of STR (Good). Mega STR Potion Share Cooldown with Mega Potion of Mind/Int/Vit (Bad).
With These Changes Image the Possibilities.
/ac "Blood for Blood" <me> > /wait 1 > /potion/item "Mega Potion of Strength
or
/potion/item "Mega Potion of Vitality" > /wait 1 > /ac "Thrill of Battle" <me>
This will not only make it more convenient for users, but I believe this will boost the demand for potion, much needed for Alchemist. And with more demand, it could open up doors for a new market for raw mats needed for potions.
2. Cross Server Party Finder ( Later down the road)
The implementation of Party Finder was a delightful surprise. It's a great system and I use it very often. However, I would be nice if it was advertise cross server. I don't know about you guys, but it seems on my server that number of players online seem to be on a decline, which is normal for every MMO. But because of this, even with party finder, it still can take hours to find members for content. Until people get accustomed to using party finder before starting their own parties, we will continue to have this issue. Having Party Finder advertise Cross Server would alleviate this issue. I know what your thinking, "that would be a huge "cluster ****" But thats where Filters & Search would come to play.
3. More Options to Make Gil From Game (Crafting Leve!!!)
Think Fast; Why do Most Major Countries prosper ? Because they have an economy that promises if you work hard you will be rewarded. In Final Fantasy, that doesnt exist. You work hard with a slight chance to get rewarded (Unless you know something the general population doesnt). So your forced to keep your tricks a secret or face the possibility of watching your profits pummel from undercutters. So the rich get richer, and the poor stay poor, and from what I can tell, the general population is poor.
Solution:
1. End Game Crafting Quest that cost leve points.
Concept: Once you are 50 and completed all the guild quest with your crafting class, A Vendor should be unlock to allow you to become "A Master Goldsmith/Blacksmith/Weaver etc. This vendor will have a new list of raw mats that can be bought cheap to be used to create new challenge receipts. These receipt will be quest exclusive for turn in's, and the finished items/ Raw mats will be unsellable on the market board to avoid power leveling and abuse.
You pay 1 Leve to attemp a challenge and you are only limited to do challenges by how many leves you have. Challenges are Random, and is Moderate - High Difficulty for a level 50 Crafter. If you complete the challenge you are rewarded 3-5K + Master Crafter Points (MCP). MCP will then be used to purchase passive crafting skills. Example: Increase chance to Meld Materia+1% Cost 1000,+3% 2000 MCP. Increase Chances to Proc Good Condition 5000 MCP, Execellent Condition 10000 MCP. Increase Craftmenship Points by 1 2000. Increase Control by 1 Cost 6000 MCP, You guys get the point. Master Crafter will be able to Meld 1 Materia (2 with Over Meld) to thier own Myth/Allagan Gear.
Lastly
4. In Game Party VoiceChat (Really Long Term)
I know alot of MMORPG's dont have In Game Party Chat Implement in their games, and my response to that is "Why"? It's 2014, Dont Tell me its not possible. Espcially since its a Standard For Any FPS that wants to be successful. Most Gamers have a pair of headsets and Party Chat makes getting things done so much easier. Along with enhancing your gaming experience. And with a game that is so crucial on team play, Party Chat would be a Huge QoL Boost.
The Most Fun I've had in FFXIV ARR is End Game Turns. And I believe that is not because its fun content, but because I truely felt the sense of accomplishment of working together with the personalities behide the toons, Win or Fail, Still Had Good Times. 3rd Party Apps arent quite cutting it, and I notice it creates a inconvenience for players on PS3. This will also increase SE appeal to draw in new players, offering something no other MMO offered before. With FFXIV outstanding Graphics, Fun Factor, and In Game Chat, I seriously think it will eventually become the most successful MMORPG of all Time. Call of Duty is the first popular game that comes to my mind; would it have been as successful if it didnt have in game chat ?
