Heres a newflash for SE.. we don't watch an action based platform that's going to get old in a month. We want a RPG that allows us to play with others.

Don't forget that Sakaguchi was still holding the reins at Square when FFXI was developed and released. The idea to make FFXI an MMORPG was his idea.

This debate is pointless. Neither Yoshi-P or Tanaka can save this game. I've said it a bunch of times, the only way to save this game is for SE to partner with Hironobu Sakaguchi, and let Mistwalker take over development from here.

You guys. Tanaka was never the director. He never had creative control over the project. He didn't have a "vision." He was just responsible for the execution of the game. In that respect he failed. Nobuaki Komoto was the Director, he was the one responsible for any "vision," and he is still part of the team as a lead designer. I think the confusion comes in because Yoshida is now the Producer and Director. So, if in the next few months the additions to the game begin to take some terrible turn, then perhaps we could begin to discuss Yoshida's experience. But right now it is both too soon and inappropriate to compare Yoshida to Tanaka.

Actually the reason Yoshi-P replaced Tanaka is because he has MORE experience with leadership and production on MMO's, same with the rest of the replacement team. Go back and read the letter announcing the team change-up if you are unsure. I'm sure they didn't lie about that.

Yoshi also has FAR better communication skills. Now if you want to go back to the time we didn't know wth was going to happen because the producer didn't talk to or respond to any feedback, by all means keep calling for Tanaka back.
