So 2 questions here

I know a little lame to be discovering this now, but I have been seeing peoples chocobos in different outfits than the GC ones. I found out how to obtain them but question #1 is how and what is the best way to rank up your chocobo. #2 is for fun purposes what is your favorite of the ones out there. Also if I posted this in the wrong area I apologies.

Question #1 seems to take a very long time, no matter what you do. I personally only have my chocobo to rank 3 so I can't help much there.

Question #2 I really like the Sleipnir barding from Odin Mantles and the WHM barding if you get your chocobo to rank 10 healer!

Grind. A lot of grinding. Personally I havent seen a single person with a Lv10 Chocobo nor heard of anyone getting it.

Its a bit of a time waster but best way to Level up your chocobo is fighting Lv50 Enemies, (such as the water sprites in Urth's Gift near Quarrymill in Gridarnia)

Since your Chocobo gets exp based on part on the EXP you get from a mob, bonus EXP bonuses helps AND since you can gain Chain EXP fightning Lv50 enemies as a Lv50 Class/Job, it makes it easier.

You can also alleviate your grindom by buying numerious items to equip and spiritbond them, and get materias after your done.

You level up your companion AND you get a profit out of it.

There is a decent population on my server who actually levels chocobo.

best place to level them in area with level 50 mobs, so far best place i seen with high respawn rate and mobs close to each other is the "Urith Gift" or something that is close to Quarrymill Camp in Black Shroud.

You can fight water elementals there, i think you get 217 exp per kill + chains and etc. Best with party of 4. Bard seems like a good job, as well as Blackmages.

Mine wears Behemoth Mask, Blackmage Body and Behemoth Legs. Level 5.5 - Healer tree. Obtained Cure. 3 points remaining.

The problem is that it exist only 1 place ingame with level 50 enemies. Urth's Fount in South Shroud.
And at some days it can be get really full here with people leveling their chocobos.

If you have any jobs left to level, can bring them up the 40s and do the beastmen dailies, with choco out.. even if you have to pick them up and turn them in on another job if you are too low the actual quests... mob exp when you are 5-6 levels below is quite nice (500+ with rested), and other people often jump in to help you finish the kills, and if your dps is good can also often do enough damage to make it count when assisting other peoples claimed mobs.

Probably not faster than dedicated grinding, but you getting exp for yourself, your chocobo, making gil, building rep and can be spiritbonding in a few slots too without making the fights too challenging.

This is where most of my chocobo exp is coming from at the moment, and I find it feels much less grindy than just chocobo exp/spiritbonding at 50, as the quests make you seek out a variety of enemies.

(edit: oh and if you want to work towards the job specific chocobarding, don't put a single point into another role, have to choose tank/healer/dps and stick with it all the way... resetting points might come in the future, but as I understand it, if you split you points between roles you are screwed for now, and rank 10 won't give you a barding of any kind... i'm working towards whm).
