The only dumb question is one not asked -- and also this one. MONK QUESTION

Hi there,

I have recently gotten to level 30 on my Monk and am enjoying watching the lovely attack animation that is Demolish. I do have a rather odd question about this ability though:

Is it one DoT or two?

The tooltip says (and I've cut it down)

Delivers damage over time with a potency of 30. 70 when delivered from behind. Duration 18s.
Additional Effect: Damage over time potency 40.

This says to me that when I attack the mob I give it an 18s DoT, 30 potency if head on, 70 potency if behind. This DoT lasts 18s.
This also tells me that there is an additional DoT effect of potency 40, regardless of direction of attack.

So if there are two dots -- why do I only see one DoT debuff on my target? Also, when I stand back and watch the Dot(s) tick without attacking I only 1 damage number per tick.

I asked a few Monks and they said that the 30/70 is the initial damage -- but I don't understand why it is worded "Delivers Damage Over Time" as apposed to other abilities that read "Delivers an Attack".

Can someone clarify this for me please?

The 30/70 potency is the initial strike of the skill and the 40 potency DoT is.. well the DoT.

I punch you for 30/70 potency and then you bleed from that punch for 40 potency for 18 seconds.

It's just a tooltip error.
It should say "Delivers an attack with potency 30. 70 when delivered from behind." and they need to remove the first mention of duration in the tooltip.

Okay so this tooltip needs to be rewritten. As it stands it tells us:

"Delivers damage over time with a potency of 30 /70" Instead of:
"Delivers an attack with a potency of 30 / 70" like every other directional enhanced attack for PGL.

And secondly, it says "Delivers damage over time with a potency of 30 / 70 ... DURATION 18s" so again, the first line which says DoT instead of ATTACK also reaffirms itself as a DoT by giving a duration.

It should just read:

"Delivers an attack with a potency of 30 / 70.
Additional Effect: Damage over time: Potency 40"
Additional Effect: Greased Lightning
Additional Effect: Stance change thing."

So I don't need to stress about getting behind the mob for anything but bosses. I thought I was seriously gimping my levelling dps by not behind behind to get the stronger DoT. So long as the DoT is 40 front or back -- then I am happy (until the reword)
