Please add a party setting to disable Need option in loot settings

As I'm sure the devs are bound to have noticed by now, there are plenty of groups forming in party finder that advertise as greed parties for primal content. I've made a few of these parties myself and find it distressing that there's no way for the party leader to set the loot rules to greed only, so that everyone has a chance at the items.

I understand that if implemented, this may cause a lot of parties to set it to greed only as default. So here's an idea that may work: Perhaps it can be something like a vote system, where the leader initiates the change, and everyone in the party must vote yes to disable the need option for it to go through. In the event that even one person votes no, the loot system remains as is with the need option available this would help avoid situations where say, a party made up mostly of friends tries to change the loot system to gain a loot advantage for a friend over a pick up member.

Perhaps others may have more ideas as to how this may work, but I feel we definitely need an option to at least disable the Need option to avoid ninja looting given the popularity of greed only parties.

Ok and for what reason does this actually apply?

If you are rolling as a summoner and something drops that you NEED, you have first priority.... If you already have the item, then you pass because you can not obtain it anyways... Don't see the point here. This seems like an elitist's way of saying, join our party, and if the bard ring that you need drops, you can not need it anymore, you can greed it only so that our FC mates that have an alternate lvl 36 bard can get it over you and having it waiting for him to be an ilvl80+ character when he gets his alternate duty roullette leveled to 50 in 2 weeks

Umm, I'm not sure you fully read my post. But I'll give you a specific example that actually happened that made me think this was necessary.

Last week, I started a party finder recruitment for Ifrit Extreme for farming accessories. Now on my server, "Greed Only" parties are pretty popular as it gives people the chance to play on a job that's needed by the party but still have a fair shot at accessories for the class they're not currently playing. This works by the honour system and usually is not a problem. However this particular run someone chose to need the item even though it was advertised as well as discussed in party chat and agreed upon that this was a greed only party. All I'm asking for is a feature that starts a vote to disable the Need button if 100% of the party members vote yes.

If it was a 100% vote, I don't see how this could be used to gain an advantage over another player. By your example, if the summoner wanted to keep his right to Need, simply vote No and the loot system remains unchanged.

and i think you've missed MY point.... My point is that if a system like this DOES get installed it 100% favors the elitists!!

If I happen to be doing a specific instance/raid or what not, and i know that PUG groups are typically BEYOND AWFUL.... like Titan HM for one.... we'll than I am forced to party find it, whether creating my own, or joining another..... and knowing that the success rate will obviously be higher with better geared players (not needing a carry, but more experienced partners), and they are all doing these "alleged greed parties".... what if my ilvl 80 bow drops, and its an improvement over my sarnga..... IM NOT ALLOWED TO ROLL A NEED ON IT?? why?? because you elitists made a party that specifically prevents me from access to these items as a NEED, so you can get a "fair" shake on it, for your 4th alternate class.... not cool

So your answer will be, don't like it? join another group? So now i will need to start my own PF group to compete against yours, which will result in more unnecessary spam shouting in Mor Dhona..... all because you desperately need that vortex ring for your bard that isnt even lvl 50 yet...

Your suggestion SPECIFICALLY encourages the elitists to monopolize the system and create a further divide in the community by forcing the lesser geared to remain lesser geared, while you out gear them on your alternates..

Your suggestion is good in theory.... but what happens when i vote no..... im a dps anyways..... you vote kick me, and then let the person that replenishes your rank have a chance to answer the vote correctly.... if not... vote kick again...

DPS queue times are long enough. i waited 46 mins for a crystal tower run, that got cote abandonned after 50 mins two nights ago, and took another 50 minutes to requeue for it...... So now your saying that you can vote kick me if i dont agree with your greed only mechanism.... well no you boot me and i requeue again.... sorry for clicking join in progress and attempting to be your hero..... sorry for using the DF for a group, and being the 8th member because you PUG'ed a healer..... either way im in the minority and screwed..... all for a system you implemented, and with good intentions I do not doubt...

But the problem is, your mechanism, while favorable..... will be exploited, and the elitists will find a way to use it for their own malicious ways, to again.... screw the lesser popular, or lesser geared out of something they are systematically entitled to if they chose to roll a "need" on...

Your issue is a player created one. If you want to ensure you have a legitimate chance at the item you're after, go as that class. Otherwise, deal with it if someone actually rolls need. There's no legal document people are signing before going into these instances prohibiting them from rolling Need on something even if they agreed to Greed. They might alienate themselves, but obviously they felt the loot was worth doing so and that's their problem.
