    If you're getting so bored with the game's combat to the point where you think gear swaps would actually add some depth, then you've really fallen off the deep end. How about a better combat system in which you're constantly using abilities that actually matter? Your effectiveness in battle should be determined by your knowledge of what skill should be used when, not if you can macro a crapload of gear to one skill.
    so if you were a CON and there was a hat that gave you 10% MAB to nuke and the hat you have now stats are gathering +2 and Cure Potency +5% and your in battle and need to nuke you would have to swap it and keep ppl waiting and such no would you want easy way to switch it in and out

    Maybe I'd like a piece of gear that had both stats instead! More inventory spaces please.

    not only will they not do that, my bet is that anyone in long battles in future will still end up unsheathing and then switching with macros, just adds 1 step not needed. and if they try make gear unchangable while party has things fighting it can be anoying in general and will automatically remove needing most gear in game and removing content along with it.

    Seeing that swapping was the one thing that largely ruined FFXI for me due to it being stupid to see your character blink in and out constantly and how immersion-killing it was, I'll say no to gear swapping.

    PS: Swapping also makes hybrid jobs a real pain to play and screws over those that are balanced around gear being the limiting factors (see: Red Mage).

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    What about allowing us to wear 4 rings, 1 necklace and 2 bracelets, and allow us to choose which ones to activate with a macro? (Well, activating a piece of gear seems a bit weird, but games aren't reality, right?) It wouldn't be as hardcore as gear swapping in FFXI, but would still allow players that are a bit elitist to change a part of their gear to be more efficient. It also would only require a few macros, and will give more work to goldsmithing.

    gear swapping was an admitted mistake, they kept it going though, but it really was retarded, in fact it just rewarded people for using windower, with its infinite swaps.
    If they want to bring back the cool parts of gear swapping, they need to make a system where you can take stats off of gear and add it to your charachter or some such. Its stupid that most of the time your charachter doesnt exist due to an exploit. Do a ws and disapear, oh wait you need one for boost one for chakra one for most ws, mass quantities of gear, on for blink one for footwork, one for dragon kick.
    man, it was a mistake, Im glad its gone, hope it never comes back. If you want to choose your stats/gear abilities for one fight go for it, thats pretty cool actually (one advantage of the armory system) but changing multiple times per fight, disappearing, sure many people did it but it should never have been

    Gear swapping is a pointless waste of time and an excellent example of how unnecessarily convoluted FFXI was. Not to mention it's so ridiculous to be able to change your gear at will during battle... and some people complain about jumping ruining "immersion".
