Don't want gear swaps. I like the idea of having to balance a set of gear for fights. I really hated it in XI but had to use it to be remotely effective for 8 years I'm tired of it.

Only thing I really miss from FFXI is the epic skill macros people had. My best was in the dunes when I first started the game at NA release.
There was a monk who every time he boosted.
/shout "I'M GETTING STRONGER!!!!!"
best macro ever.
err, actually, this is nothing about fast, press macro button and that's all.
It's about wearing the right thing in the right situation, and situation changes. (eg:when you casting ice based magic and fire based magic, you need the different element enhance equipments.) It also tells the difference between newbie and experienced player, which could also bring the game more challenge or possiblity.
If there is someone don't want or don't like gear swap, they can just ignore the function, nothing will change.
Nah, best macro ever was boostu.
My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)
Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
no no no, a thousand times no.... gear swaps where the most bothersome thing in FFXI
My DRG was no to bad, but on jobs, like my DNC, I was swapping stuff out with almost every action I did.
Well it seems this Topic hurts ppl right where it hurts . As it turns out if FFXI would have not had gear swaps as one of its elements of its game it would have lasted 1/4 time it did . People would have done kings for the duration of the expansion and move on never really having the best gear at all only best at the time
Yes this game change gear system is slow and at this point in time gear swaps aren't needed but if this is going to be a game were i can beat every content release in 2 weeks and gear is gotten and dropped with every update then this for sure isnt where im going to spend my money for SE to waste my time i play .
Take a look at retainer system vs. Auction house , retainers are a great idea and everything but hurts the economy with showing the prices of items which are sold so now everyone can undercut everyone else buy 1000s -1000000s of gil just to make quick sales . also the fact wards right now are full and for those whos retainers arent logged into wards cant get them on because its full is BS now instead of camping Tiamat or Fafnir im camping to get a mule in correct wards or any ward for that matter.sorry about this rant but yeah
gear swaps would make game best in my eyes

Dear God, no...
Gear swapping was the worst cheese ever to come out of XI. It also encourages elitism. How often have we heard the term "fulltiming" with the implication that the speaker just threw up a little bit just by saying the word?
In fact, here is a post from a rather scholarly fellow on another board that illustrates my point quite nicely:
So much stupid in this thread.
The only reason you'd not want to use gear swaps in ffxi...
1) you suck
2) you're too poor to get any worthwhile equipment and fulltime useless shit and are therefore gimp. you could be the best gamer in the history of the universe, but you're still gimp without the equipment to back it up in ffxi
3) you're playing on a lolconsole. ffxi isn't woth playing on a console. the restrictions on macros alone are proof of that. 6 lines is maybe enough for lvs 1-70, but after that you need more unless you want to hit more than 1 macro for each action... which sucks.
4) you're too stupid to realise the obvious advantage gained from swapping equipment.
5) you're stupid enough to think that swapping gear mid-battle is "unrealistic"... and casting magic, fighting dragons/anything with the delay based combat, TP/HP/MP, the fact you can't step up a tiny little wall but apparently save the world from being destroyed is realisitc? stfu.
6) you're too stupid to realise that <stpt> amd <stal> were added eons ago so it's impossible to lose a target due to equipment change. blinkmenot works too.
The way you do your macros, how you use them and the way you try and improve vasious gear sets is a good half of the game imo. It's the stratergy part of ffxi and without it, you'd have nothing to aim for hardly. jobs would be 50x weaker and events would take way more people.
it alows SE it add more and more equipment with each update without making everything that you have equipped completly useless. this avoid the huge bottle-neck of everyone on the server trying to get the same pieces of equipment with each update.
FFXI isn't WoW. You need more than 1 equipment set to get things done with the best efficiency.
FFXIV is pretty obviously meant to compete with WoW. It's not a replacement for FFXI and never will be. It's pretty clear that it's designed at more casual/lazy players and thus will most likely require less time/effort/work to get to the "top".
You dont want to swap equipment in ffxi? fine, that's your choice. But dont expect to stay in my xp parties or endgame groups if you're not prepared to pull your weight like everyone else there. It's not fair on the group otherwise.
Oh, and for the record... I had 7 lv 75s before the lv cap increase and fine for inventory space. A lot of the best equipment is usable by more than one job, and while it may not be the absolute best piece for that slot (eg mermans rings... useful for THF COR NIN(mdb) RNG instead of behemoth+1 for Racc and mermans for nin) they're more than good enough to get the job done without gimping my performance.
Use your head, have some courtesy and stop being such a burden to the group you're with.

inb4 "omg eletist".
To put this to bed. If this game survives DO YOU REALLY THINK that the Endgame shells from 11 wont be holding and keeping HNM or NM and selling its mats for gear either way , Gear swapping or no gear swapping its the truth
