    If all gear is generic, there would be no point having pieces drop off nm's/dungons/quests. Would it be worth the time and effort of end game if the gear reward was no better that the gear you already had?

    Agreed... You just have to make a choice....
    This piece has more STR, This one has more DEF.... which do I think I'll use more... and then live or die by your choices...
    Which is essentially what a game should be...
