Challenge: Feminine, not sexy

I send a challenge to the art team:
Create an outfit for female characters that is feminine, yet not sexual.

I think most people appreciate the view of skin here and there. And I understand the root of the game is in Japan with its culture and a lot had to be toned down for the release in America. But I'd like to see a suit of armor that plays with the shape of the female body more than it shows it literally.
I think the Armor of Light has a good potential for it.

And I know it requires more work to make a male-female specific suit, but I'm asking for just one to start with and see where it goes from there.

I wouldn't mind this, I'd certainly like something flattering to my character model, I put a lot of work into her appearance, and it seems like everything either makes her look 90% naked, or completely drapes over and hides any and all of her features, as vain as it may sound

Agreed with both! Have wanted this since Beta. There is nothing wrong with a little vanity, else why add dye, hair styles, freckles, and the aesthetician. Not to mention housing and so on.

The NPCs have some nice clothing options, but they're hardly battle-worthy.

I think the armor of light is actually exceedingly masculine, and the only armor types I know of now that sorta meet your criteria are the scale mail sets, but those are actually rather sexy because of this. I do want them to try and make more gear that is masculine on men but feminine on women. So far, many skirts in the game are skirts on both men and women, women just lose the pants under them and wear them right. They should do something like the Dancer AF from FFXI, which was considerably different between the genders, or the Dancer Empyrean armor from Abyssea, which saw even more drastic differences. Avoiding making the gear sexy while maintaining femininity will truly be a challenge though. There really aren't many sexy articles of equipment in this game past level 1 anyways :/ subligaria aside (which is a matter of taste anyways, with how flat the butts are in this game).

I honestly don't see where you're coming from, there's only two gear sets (that's not underwear) that are really revealing. Though I do agree that there could be more gear sets that show the female form without feeling sexual to wear.

while what you desire is very reasonable, I think somehow you must not have seen enough gear. there is a ton of gear in the game that's "not sexy." Alot of that can be fairly "feminine" as well. I know. I've crafted nearly every craftable piece of gear in the game. take for example, vanya robes. I don't consider those masculine at all. They look really cool, but I certainly wouldn't call them "sexy." there are plenty of other examples, which I'm sure we'll see more of when vanity is around and people actually use some of the cooler low level designs. could there be more? sure, really that could be said of any sort of design types.
