The enemies have to be within a certain radius of you for it to hit, otherwise it does nothing but use your MP.

Just wanted to add some extra emphasis to this, because it's a mistake I see a lot of new Gladiators make. Flash does not have a very large range. If you don't see the enemy in question gain the Blind effect (Edit: past level 20, when the Blind trait kicks in), and/or appear on your enmity list (the list with little green/yellow/orange/red dots), you missed.
