That's the message u get if you try to fish with a broken rod. Not saying that's your issue, but make sure you have it repaired.

I just checked and my rod isn't broken, that'd be embarrassing if that was the case.

I've been fishing fullmoon sardines using spoon worm bait for the past few days. I fished up about 260 and then it started giving me that error message whenever I would try and fish again. I've gone back to that spot over the past 3 days and I get the same message whenever I try and I've moved up and down the coast to every possible spot and it doesn't let me fish.

I don't know what happened/changed but after submitting this and going back I can now fish again.

I read that it's anti-bot code. Basically if you fish to much in one spot, it'll give you that message. I had that happen at the falls near oakwood in upper la noscea. I was mystified so I looked it up on the net. I found that if I fished somewhere else for a while, I could go back. Hopefully the same is true for you.

It seems to be a timer - once you start fishing in a particular spot, it starts a timer. After some time (having tracked it) it won't let you fish there for a while. Usually moving to a slightly different spot works, but I don't know how long the reset on the timer is, so it could be possible to time out on all the fishing spots in an area.
And yes, I'm fairly sure it is a timer because I have started fishing, fished once and realized my inventory was full, had to run back to town, come back to fish 30 minutes later and I get the same message.

It's definitely a timer. I started fishing (just a couple of casts) and had to go afk. When I came back I got the suspicious fish message. So it is strictly a matter of time from when you start.

s.umbra?try leaving s.umbra...u cant fish sometimes in all 3 spots.also ive switched spots between the 3 and fished normal.i get that your locked after set amount of time,your description seems like a bug bc its not letting you back
