Q12: Will we be able to obtain a new egi after defeating Leviathan?

A12: We feel it’s unfair to add new abilities just for summoners, so we would like to add new abilities for all jobs at the same time. Therefore, it will happen when we raise the level cap.

We’re currently working on the expansion pack and thinking of raising the level cap at that time. We will most likely implement a new egi at that time. Please stay tuned!

we know that the expansion will be around 2 years after the release of ARR, do that means some legacy player must stay 50 for more of 5 years? seriously?

i means a lot of possibility of the armory system are blocked because the jobs have only 5 skill, how you want to make a real difference between jobs and class with only 5 skill.

some of us are waiting for the raise of level cap for see how the armory system will evolve... and did you just say that we need to wait 2 more years?

i hope, seriously, that was an error... because gosh... wait 2 more years for be finally out of this 50... and i don't talk of the ilevel stuff that will be around 200 at this pace.

Yoshida: For our current update schedule, we’re aiming for large updates every two and a half to three months. We pretty much already have our schedule solidified up to 2.3, and then if everything goes well we hope to have an expansion at around a year and a half after the original launch. That’s what we’re looking at, but then again you know how things change. We’re going to have a big launch and a lot of content at launch, and a lot of people on the team are working on this as well. So, we’ll have to see how things go with the launch but that’s what we’re looking at.

This would indicate that we can expect the 1st expansion 1 1/2 year from its initial release in August/September 2013, which would be around March/April 2015. Sounds reasonable, considering that we should get about 5 more major content patch till then (2.2 included and if they release a major content patch every 3 months).

You hate content that much? They can only do so much with the vanilla areas...lol. Then again since the world is meaningless and everything is in an instance...yeah we don't really need expansion packs.

the trouble is not when we will get the expansion, but why they have change them idea to raise the level cap before it. i will look around for find it, but i clearly remember yoshida saying that the level cap raise will come before the expansion, mostly because a lot of legacy player was 50 for age.

and now we see that the level cap raise will come at the first expansion pack...
i feel perplexe by this choice, i can understand that new player just did begin the game and that they want to forget the v1, mostly because it was a catastrophe, but legacy/v1 player are still there... we are into this game (for some) for more of 3 years now...come on! is not a new game!

If I'm not mistaken, the fact that legacy players are 50 in almost every job is the reason they plan on releasing more Jobs/Classes (I believe it was 2 jobs per class and 1 maybe 2 additional classes) before the first expansion. I don't have a quote handy and I am too tired to look for one, but I recall reading that somewhere.

Yoshida says a lot of things. If he doesn't promise it and the older it is it will likely change due to certain circumstances.
