If it's just more servers you're asking for, then SE has them already. I mean, FFXI had a large number of servers and they turned several off over the years. And I assume SE has a nice number of servers ready for XIV that's already been planned ahead for PS3 release.
I assume if SE understood one thing from FFXI is the need for many servers.
The OP completely throws everyone off with it's point of topic.
#1 has nothing to do with my original reply.#1, there will still be beginners who join your server, so you can still show off your leet anvil-banging skills.
#2, Square-Enix inconvenienced hundreds of thousands of us by making a game that requires hard work instead of fun play - essentially tricking us into spending an extra 50-80 dollars more than we would have had we known that FFXIV wasn't going to be anywhere near satisfactory.
#2 And it's your problem if you haven't been playing it in the meantime. Look at my posts, I'm one of the harshest critics here of FFXIV. I've been weathering the storm, while you ran off. Why should I be limited in how I can server transfer to play with friends because YOU have an issue with the game?
I have no complaints with new servers being opened, at all.
What I oppose is the idea that people should NOT be allowed to transfer there, and you have not answered why that should be allowed (besides, "Bawwwww, I want a server where nobody is ahead of me because I voluntarily quit playing!).

We had 300k+ on these servers around launch do you think there will be enough PS3 customers to justify adding more servers?
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
PS3 player base in XI was around 400k at its peak... if they fix this.. that 300k could come from Japan alone.
I know a few games that do this, and from what I saw (world of warcraft) it is sucessful. But allow a free one time only transfer off the newbie server once you hit 30. And obviously make it optional or have it be a temp server that brings you to 30 then you pick a server from that point. Again have it be a choice. ffxi didn't do this but it help people learn the game. Most of the communication WHICH IS SO LACKING IN GAME. happens when a higher up meets a newbie. I wish we had a newbie icon to make it easier to know who a newbies is.
Terrible idea, game is already low on population. Also new players is the life and breath of a working economy.
Why on earth would they want to do that? So none of the current servers can get a fresh influx of new players? Seems like a pretty bad idea to me.
Just out of curiosity, but if you want to play with your PS3 friends so badly... why can't they come to your server?#1 has nothing to do with my original reply.

I'm pretty sure why it shouldn't be allowed has been answered a few times, but here's one non-bawww answer for you: it would ruin the economy.
All the current servers have ruined economies. Gil is a joke. It might as well be Itchy & Scratchy Dollars. Many* people still playing have max gil. When the game is (re)launched on PS3, the quests and missions and leves aren't going to give such ridiculous amounts of gil; as rewards are scaled back and gilsinks added, the new player is going to accumulate wealth at a much slower rate causing a marked increase in the value of the gil piece. It will have an economy.
Now transfer in the people who've played for the last 9 months and have a ridiculous amount of gil. That much gil being added to the economy at once will cause massive inflation, which will cause all the new players being well below the poverty line by default.
You say you want to play with your friends, then fine, invite them to whatever server you're on. Why can't you do that?
