Makes sense so upon hitting 50 ill go for my higher end grand company gear to farm the other stuff..

Any tips on earning gil as well?

I actually recommend buying an HQ set of crafted level 55 imperia/militia gear (Be sure to get the stuff that matches your class!) Grand Company gear is all over the place in terms of stats, and only a couple pieces might be useful to you. The level 55 GC weapon is the only one that's guaranteed to be of any use to you. Plus, the imperial/militia gear can be converted into materia, which can be sold to recoup your losses or possibly even turn a profit.

As for gil, do daily beastman quests, leves, and duty roulette every day.

Guys. I can't find my main quest logo. I completed the story , without given out too many spoils, let's just say the last quest I did was follow a white robed guy outside vesper bay and passed his trials. But I don't know what next to do because I don't see a main quest icon anywhere.
