Titan-egi and Tanks?

I've been leveling my WHM for awhile now and in the past week I've seen a strange occurrence that isn't making sense to me (I have a SCH and SMN but play my SCH and only have the SMN for completion purposes).

A few times the DF will start and a Summoner will be in group with Titan out and the tank will ask something like, "Please change pets" there will be a pause, and most of the time, the Summoner will reply, "No" or not reply at all and then the tank will leave.

I know that Titan-egi is the tank of the pets but does it put out enough Hate to pull from a tank? I don't play a tank or a summoner so I don't know how it would work I am just curious as to what could be done, if anything, to cool down a situation like this?

It makes a tanks job more stressful (is the healer/DPS pulling hate from me or is that Titan?) and it's lower DPS. Summoners shouldn't be using it unless the tank is bad or the situation calls for it.

The only time Titan has a use is when the tank dies and you can Swiftcast him out to take over - even then, it's a bit hard for him to get hate at that point.

Titan Egil is for solo outside world, it have really no purpose in dungeon or primal battle. Now a day even a bad tank can simple spam flash or overpower and can hold hate well on group of mobs in dungeon

As a SMN player I have ran into a tank where they get mad at me for bringing out my Titan egi. The reasons why I bring Titan out is 1. The tank absolutely sucks and can't do their job well. 2. Like spooky ghost said when the tank dies and I can swiftcast Titan egi out. Or 3. The tank loses hate from an enemy and it goes straight for the healer. I do it to protect the healer if I see the tank don't even "try" to pull hate off of the freaked outed healer.

Just use Titan egi in those situations and above all control the pet. If the tank does try to get hate back from an enemy tell Titan to stop attacking. I've been in a party where a new player was learning how to tank. His gear sucked so when the healer go to heal him she got insta aggro every single time. So I had my Titan egi tank one enemy while he tanked the other. When the enemy he was tanking was dead I ordered Titan egi to stop attacking to let the learning tank pull aggro.

It's just a waste of time. I know some Summoners do it to have Titan grab one mob off of the tank during dungeons, to lessen damage the tank is receiving, but it very rarely compensates for the dive in DPS the Summoner is inflicting on themselves by not having Garuda out.

If the tank is getting bodied, or needs help with hate, at that point the Titan idea can be pitched. But if you go in with it, and refuse to even give the tank a chance, then yeah, they'll probably just leave. Tanks get instant queues pretty much across the board, and most are well aware of this fact. You may find it a bit prima donna, but it is what it is.

Honestly? What annoys me more is when the other pets use their knock-backs on pulls which makes me chase mobs around. Tank pets are okay in low level DF/DR for me but if I get frustrated and they don't put the pets away or switch them, I let them do the pulling. /shrug I'll never abandon a group because of a tank pet before level 20 though.

"Tank pet abilities generate extra aggro. If it is attacking the same mob as me, there shouldn't be an issue. If it attacks a non-primary target and grabs aggro, I won't risk losing the rest of the mobs by trying to grab aggro off the pet. By the way, the pet doesn't appear on the party list, so the healer can't monitor it and probably won't target it."

Well, titan is the weakest egi in terms of DPS, so it's just a waste, and in terms of hate, titan can't keep enough hate to tank a mob effectively, as smn after a full rotation i'll have the mob on me and titan will be chasing it while i kite.

Even soloing in open world i only use titan when i'm too lazy to kite.
