Considered this; just felt wasteful. But if you're just going for the equip, it is definitely the best way.
Thank you so much for helping and doing this, I finally get a set done, XD@ ImDingDing
Never equip anything which has a Higher Req Level than the Sync Level. What you should be using is :

http://xivdb.com/?item/1785/Ul%27dahn-Bhuj
Paired with:
http://xivdb.com/?item/3152/Serpent-Sergeant%27s-Tabard
http://xivdb.com/?item/3158/Flame-Sergeant%27s-Tabard
If you manage to get the Levequest chest Alternate from Chest to these glove: (Only for Twin Adder)

Bought HQ items you will go for Vintage Celata as the guide states. Others you can go with the normal Tank HQ gear. Just remember the rule it can have a higher Ilvl but not a Higher Req Equip Level.

Been looking into doing this for the lols. I used to twink in WoW a lot at 19.
That being said, has anyone looked into Timeworn lvl 40 map rewards? And if you can get a group together who wants to do, you can be in a party and have 1 person do the leve at a time. (Thus you aren't wasting getting the wrong gear, if someone else would use it.)
Solid post though. I've got some friends who want to do 50 pvp, but don't have any gear so this is gonna be a good way to get them i70 without them quitting pvp.
EDIT: Leather maps give out level 35 aetherial gear. Gonna go up to the next level of map and check.

Goatskin maps drop the good stuff. I found a Red Coral Ring and some other level 40 (item level 43) gear.Been looking into doing this for the lols. I used to twink in WoW a lot at 19.

I didn't have enough maps to test Goatskin maps. Since it is the most expensive map, capable of dropping Blue Fox Pelt and Exquisite Buttons. I did like 15 or so but none gave me Ilvl 43 Req 40 items.
I am coming back to thank OP again. In my recent winning games I constant top DPS as MRD in lv30/40 games with these gears sets.

Hi, this thread is really informative. But I'd like to ask if I would pentameld bards gear for lv40s, which materias would be best for each gear or accessory if that makes sense xD? thanks in advance.
If you are going to Penta-meld you pretty much can achieve max DPS stat. Aka Main Stat + Vit + Crit + Determination + abit of Skillspeed/CastSpeed. How you meld is well depending on what stat you weight heavier or which Materia that will weight heavier on your pocket. So long as it fits the criteria of no having an equip level above 40 you're good to wear them.
And no twink is complete if you haven't get the Ilvl 43 weapon. The differences of that 10% WPN DMG is enormous, not to mention most main pieces of armor grant your +1 Main stat and Vit, which will go a long way. Totaling up to almost 15% increase in efficiency. My MNK might have graduated from 40 PvP, but it is still fun helping some friends get to R30 with these twink gears. We're talking GL3 True Strikes taking off 40% HP on crit which is VERY often. Heck, on a pimped DRG you 50% Full Thrust Crit followed by 2 Jump attacks which will guarantee a kill if the healer doesn't throw a heal.
As far as Archer/Bard goes, well preferably you'd want to be Archer for PvP. The 3 DoT (Fracture included) will provide you quite the passive damage on top of your hits which is really sweet. And along with Barrage can put quite the pain.
Twink my mrd for lvl 30 pvp please!
