    exactly, I would like how SE will make it start or stop?

    Auto-attack should have been implemented since the beta. and I'm sure that it will improve the gameplay. However, I'm concerned about if we have a better control using the auto-attack. when it starts and how can we stop it?

    I think they should have left the "light strike" or "mana bolt" on the bar, which would initiate the mob, and to disengage press it again.
    The icon could grey out while engaged, and light up when disengaged.

    Since we are no longer spamming a button, and to appease those of us who are used to initiating that way >> <<; It seems like a logical choice.

    Possibly active/passive mode initiates autoattack and they change other ability’s to work outside of active mode.

    So basically active/passive becomes autoattack/no autoatack

    Eugh, sounds convoluted. The easiest strategy would just to make your basic attack be your auto attack, f would still put you into active and passive, only difference being instead of spamming 1 over and over, it'd just continue to hit it while you work on placement of your character, TP moves and spells.

    Although on that subject of working outside of active mode, I kinda wish I could cast spells without whipping out my staff.

    I would also assume active/passive triggers auto attack; in the last letter Yoshi-P mentions that we would now be able to switch between active/passive while on the move and i think this is being done so its easier to turn auto-attack on/off without delay.

    Oh my... if that is what auto-attack will be then my fears have become true..
    One thing I hated most of FFXI's auto attack was the delay between attacks...
    What.. do you need to take a sip from your cup of tea between attacks..?! -.- Jeez..
