FFXIV for PS4

is the PS4 version still free for those who bought the PS3 version? I imagine it will be a downloadable version.

Can someone from the dev team confirm if the downloadable version will be the same as the disc version? The reason i ask is because some downloadable versions of games on PS3 are different then the disc version. They mostly have lower resolution textures and or lower resolution 720p instead of 1080p. I imgaine they do that so that the download file is smaller but it sucks to pay the same price for something that has lower quality and value.

I hope this is not the case here too.

They said you can upgrade your ps3 to ps4 guessing once you do that you no longer can play on the ps3 version. But guess just wait and see what they say once it get near to release.

As Zanaku said, the PS4 version is free for PS3 players. You upgrade your PS3 account to the PS4 version, but if you do you can not log into the PS3 version anymore (unless of course you purchase another copy of the game I assume).

As for the game version, for FFXIV at least the "disc version" and "downloadable version" are exactly the same (I never heard of one having lower textures than the other for any PS3 DL/Disc game). There are no differences in texture or rendering resolution between the different distributed versions of a game on the same console. A disc version of a game will run the same as a digital version, albeit with longer loading times. Not sure where you heard

The digital version of Battlefield 3 on PS3 has lower resolution than the disc version. It is essentially the same as the xbox 360 version which has lower resolution textures than the PS3 version. Other games have that problem too but Sony or Developpers never confimred that from what i know. Theres threads where people show screenshots of both versions and you can see the digital version looks worst.

I want to know whats going on with this new Collectors edition and the Fat Chocobo. I already have 3 accounts all with Collectors Edition. 2 Legacy CE and one PS3 CE. Will we be receiving this mount or will I have to buy the new PS4 CE?

Any old CE's automatically get the new in-game CE items. Should show up in the mog mail just like last time.

If you search for the most recent Live Letter you should find your answer, which is that the PS3 CE items do carry over to PS4.
