'Little' problem with my currency (Guiles)

    Good day everyone.

Maybe I'm opening too many threads lately requesting you certain kinds of information, it's not my style, but I'm having a 'little' problem with my currency (Guiles). And never better said because small is my quantity of it.

I'm often, except for some quests that give me some money, under 200 guiles, I don't know if for my level that's enough or not, but the main trouble is that soon I won't be able to keep going with my actual classes, I'll explain it:

Currently I'm Arcanist 11, Culinarian 12 and Fisher 17. As some people said, the combination of culinarian and fisher is really awesome and I like it, I cook some foods that raise my perception for catching better fishes and then cook better things and going on like that, relaxed and enjoying the peaceful works outside of battle.
But the problem is that culinarian wastes money for the ingredients, and fisher for the baits. And I don't see how to win at least more or less the same money I'm using in the baits of level 15. My main method for winning guiles outside of the quests is selling the non-craftable fishes I obtain, always sold 2-3-4-5 guiles each. But the bait is 4 guiles.... Even when I try selling some item that, for example, in a shop costs 300 guiles, it is sold by one guil or two (For example gear items)

In short. I have my inventory full of craftable items for cooking, some meals for enhancing my crafting and landing skills, but.... Nothing I can sell better. The ingredients for the food are more expensive that the food I could sell...And bait of the fisher is more expensive than some fishes I sell.
Maybe I over-explained this a little and you are yet wondering which is my question, sorry about it, here it goes: "Where or how could I win enough guiles for survive Limsa Lominsa under levels 20?"

Also: "Is there a way outside battles or FATEs for winning money so I could reach superior levels with my disciples of the hand- land classes?"

One option is to wait on crafting for a while. At around level 17, one of the main story quests unlocks the ability to hire retainers who can both hold excess items for you and sell items to other players. Once you can sell to other players, there are many items that people will buy for more money than you can get selling them to NPC vendors.

Oh, and another thing that will help is to join the Botanist guild. They also gather a lot of the items that culinarians use, so you wouldn't have to buy as many of your ingredients. For that, though, you'll need to go to Gridania, which means you'll need to unlock the use of airships with a level 15 main story quest.

In the meantime, you can earn some money through quests, FATEs, and guildleves, but yes, during early levels it can be hard to earn enough to support crafting. If you get your Arcanist up just a little further though, and advance the main story through the next few levels, it will get easier.

Unfortunately the in-game economy is going through a slump at the moment, due to players not spending gil and instead hoarding it to save for purchasing the land for their Free Company house (or Guildhall).

As a result, because no one is buying anything, crafters have to undercut/sell their items at a significant loss just to have a better chance of selling the item. Sadly there's no easy fix to this - until the land prices for housing reach their final level next month, the economy is going to remain pretty depressed unfortunately.

FATEs only give a very small gil reward sadly - you'll actually get better gil rewards through Guildleves and quests (quests especially often have very good gil rewards which get bigger the higher in level you are). So they are well worth doing as well.

Thanks for your help, Niwashi, Enkidoh.

So basically the main plan would be using the advantage that my meal gives me in the battle for leveling up my Arcanist. When no enough meal, but enough money, going back to crafting, etc.

I already managed to buy things for culinarian and fisher thanks to the money won in side-quests with the Arcanist, so I guess I'll have to go back battle for a little ^^.

Especially, good to know that about botanist, Niwashi. I think I'll grow up until 15 the Arcanist so I could visit Gridania, the disciples of the hand are funny, and if the two I liked are combined with culinarian that helps me in battle... Definitely the most important classes I'll try to work by now will be those three.

Guiles are really a difficult source here after all. I even tried to sell the fishes and other non-craftable items in different NPCs for seeing if they would pay more or less

I just realized I possibly wrote something that was a little inaccurate, simply because I chose the wrong words for it - quests don't increase the gil reward the higher the level you are, what I really meant to say is the higher the level of a quest you get, the more gil it will give, like, a level 50 quest will usually give far more gil than a level 10 quest. I just wanted to clarify that as I hope I didn't cause any misconceptions.

Don't worry, I perfectly understood that. It would be strange if the same quest gives you more or less money depending of your level.

I'll update this topic in order to inform those who maybe are reading it and also had doubts about how to win guiles. I actually found a good way of doing it raising my Arcanist a little and going to fight.

Especially, I managed to obtain a lot of money with the quests, levequests, etc. (Around 5000 guiles, and that's a lot for me having in mind that my average quantity was around 200). The way I most obtained money was with something called "Levequests" and "Guildhests" or something like that where you do a party with others and go fighting, these methods are faster than a FATE and reward more guiles.

At the beggining all those things of the levequests and party were confusing for me, but are quite useful for achieving fast guiles.

I hope that if someone did also have doubts about how to achieve guiles but didn't want to open a new thread because this one was active found this information helpful.

guiles? gils? it doesn t really matter

I see you are lvl 11 arcanist and it is your only adventurer class.
Leveling your adventuring class, doing the story will grant you around 200k gils by lvl 50 (if you don't spend beforehand)
Follow the story quest line until you have to do the 3 first dungeons, to allow airship travel. Even to unlock the Grand Company and your chocobo.

This will help you traveling to find and gather what you need for crafting/fishing

EDIT : doing dungeons is a source of income. Find some players to farm them when you are at the correct level, or a nice FC (Free Company), it s a guild of players
There is a tool to search random players but with friends it s better.
