Can you buy a House without an FC?

I would like to know if you can or if anyone has bought a house just for them, because if the small is going to be that little I might as well have it to myself.

Unfortunately you cannot. You have to be in an FC and you must obtain Rank 6 to purchase housing.

You can still buy a FC house solo, just make a FC, get 2 people (or was it 3) to make it with you. Ummm, I guess have the other members quit the FC so you are the only one in it, get your FC to Rank 6, make more gil than the house will ever be worth and buy the house. There, you have a solo FC house and a bunch of lost time that you'll never get back.

Edit: SE you guys REALLY need to cut this limited post crap out. My friend shouldn't have to bother me to make his posts because he can only make 1 post a day (he has multiple lvl50 jobs and is legacy, there is no reason he can only do 1 post a day. I hear the limit is 3, but I checked his history, he is only getting in 1 post every 2 days, your posting rules SE are total bullshit, that's the nicest way I could think of describing it. Complete and total bullshit, now cut it out so I don't have to post for friends. That's 3 posts in 1 day, I'm a noob without a lvl50 class/job and I can post more than a legacy person, am I the only one who sees how ass backwards that is?)

SE is adding a second floor to the small house around March/April, so it's basically doubling in size, and becoming a better fit for small FCs.

We don't really have info on personal housing, except that it will be much cheaper. It may only be a nicer, customizable Inn Room, or an individually instanced plot of land instead of part of a neighborhood. These are just forum speculation.

Wouldn't that person be locked into that "solo FC" and unable to join another? That's another big disadvantage, plus doesn't exactly fit the thread title of "without an FC".

I didn't say it was a good idea, he just wanted to know how to buy a house without being in a FC. Besides, with Duty Finder, many people get by just fine without being in a FC and/or a Linkshell. Also, he'll be in a FC, but he won't really be in a FC cause it'll just be him. It's the only solution for his problem until the extremely overpriced personal housing comes out (yes it will be extremely overpriced, there is no doubt in my mind cause SE lied about the FC housing price being affordable so I don't believe them for a second when they say personal housing will be affordable. Just you wait and see. )

ok, I thought that was how FC membership worked. Thanks for the clarification.

As for personal housing, for some reason I think it will be much less than a million gil, though if they have different sizes then "mansions" might be around that much. But also, I don't think they'll be in public neighborhood/wards, since they would need hundreds per city to support everyone. Time will tell.
