Account log-in suspended for suspicious activity, no clue why

I got a pop-up when I tried to log-in this morning that my account's log-in priviliges had been suspended for suspicious activity and I should respond to an email I would get on the issue. Confirming that this popup did come from the client and the email was from a Square address, I proceeded to click the link and follow a prompt to update my password.

Curios if anyone else has had this or why it happened. I do not use any add-ons and can think of nothing that would be "suspicious activity" requiring a log-in block. :\

I got it, you will need to follow link and change password.

Probably logged in from other IP than you normally do.
It also means you're not using a software or hardware token.

i get that sometimes, does setting a static IP on my end help to prevent this , or does it depend on my ISP ?

Not true...

I have received the same message, and I've had a software token since just before Beta 4. I re-activated my FFXI account for one month just so I could add the extra security. You are probably correct regarding the different IP though. That was what triggered my password reset.

A static IP should prevent this but you need to get one from your ISP, you can't unilaterally set one and many ISPs don't provide them, or if they do they'll charge for them because they are usually associated with business customers.

This happened to me, too, when I bought the game on a different platform. All I had to do was change the password and it was fine (heck, I was logged in while I did it anyway).

I get at least 20 per month because of differing IP's. I connect to the game from different networks depending on whether it's from my desktop pc or my laptop, and get a login restriction every time I switch between them.
Contacted support and they pretty much said "tough luck, get a token. Here's a link to buy one ---> ___ We hope to receive your money soon. Bye ^^ "
