    FATE Grinding Creating Noob Players

It is widely accepted that FATE grinding is the fastest way to level. It is also widely accepted that queuing for dungeons can take forever for DPS and near instant for tanks. But I realized that even as a tank in very low level dungeon queues, I found myself waiting forever to get in (1 hour +). I also realized that as a 50 class, if you don't know how to play your job, you are wasting everyone's time.

Many people don't bother with dungeons anymore because the queue takes too long and FATEs are faster. Because of this, you end up with people rushing to 50 without knowing how to properly play their class in a party setting.

Devs: The 10 Myth is not worth it for a lowbie dungeon because why am I going to spend 30 minutes doing that when I can do a higher level dungeon and get 40+ myth in the same time?

Bad is bad.... Plain and simple. IMO folks who pay attention, and can acceptably play one class will in turn be able to play them all. Yes when my healer was a fresh 50 some folks may have died, but we still managed Haukke Manor HM with time to spare(first DF after hitting 50 on my second class)... My feeling is that those same folks that you feel are "bad" at 50 with a new class are likely also terrible on the first class they leveled.

Players take the game as seriously as they want. Add to that the fact that some folks get off on seeing people YELL IN PARTY CHAT. And you have the community as a whole. I seriously doubt that the FATE system is solely to blame.

It is purely fact that fate grinding does nothing to affect how you play the game. learning your class takes the willpower to WANT to learn it. as i have said in all debates of the classic "fates make you suck" posts, Fates offer up most of the same challenges that dungeons do. multiple mob control, check, boss monsters, check, movement mechanics, check. And before you even say "but its just pew pew pew" its not. Tanks can try and pull mobs off of others to learn how to pull mobs, they can learn how to control multiple mobs when everyone is attacking, healers can learn group heals, solo heals, how and when to dps, dps learn rotations, when to use skills, what the effects are... the list goes on and on. You go into it thinking oh this is just pew pew pew that is all it will ever be. same can be said of dungeons. go into it thinking i just stand in this spot and deal damage.

Fates do not make people suck. People make people suck. you have to not want to learn your class for fates to help you get to 50 and still suck.

Fate grinding is definitely not the fastest way to lv up...

Im wondering exactly how much dungeon experience you need to actually "grasp" your role and not be a noob? Dungeon grinding is good but like FATEs, it gets boring too after awhile. Add that to the hassle of having a bad group plus the DF waiting times and you got your answer why it fails to attract those who want to level up quickly. Fate grinding is a means to effectively cut away time to level up sure but it is in fact where you get to test most of your new skills and apply it within a group. I first learn how to aggro, use LB, position a boss properly so that no else gets damaged, test macros and combos if it works, know how far an arc of a flank hit is from differently sized enemies by doing it. And even though i havent got a caster yet, im sure the throng of players to heal or boost is a very good sample to experiment on some of the aoe spells. So to me. nope, it doesn't produce noob players when in fact it trains one to be more effective working in a dynamic number of players.

I think that FATE GRINDING has a place in this game as it does significantly cut down on the time to level an ALT to 50. I also think that you should still put in Dungeon time starting with Sastasha and working on up to learn to play your new job. Each dungeon does teach players different skills to progress in the game and if you are doing well you can skip up the chain as long as you are comfortable with the new JOB. The problem is players just thinking they can take a geared 50 or sometimes undergeared 50 and just pop in and beat TITAN or something...well some can and some cannot it depends on the skill of the player.

Nah, I don't think fate grinding creates noobs. At the very least, fates are somewhat varied, and they force you to relocate to receive the most exp. I used to play a game called White Knight Chronicles (loved it!). In that game, there was one quest you could spam over and over to increase your rank in the shortest amount of time. It was called Demithor in Peril, but everyone called it "dip." Anyhoo, I think the point I'm trying to make is that at least the players who choose to fate grind are becoming more seasoned than say, someone who spams the same exact thing over and over to max level.

Leveling my 2nd class and getting nothing but COPPERBELL MINES in the damn DF isnt helping people learning their classes either. Im level 37 but have I been able to use my skills? Newp... Just 2 cross skills and 3 attacks and a buff haha.... They really need to fix that shiet. Id understand a bit if there was a lowbie in the group. But if there is my lvl 37 and 3 others with DL gear in Copperbell... we have some issues.
