I usually CT with my bard, lately I say howdy in chat, then I'll ignore /a. Ill use /p if I need to coordinate something like who's DPSing atamos, and I try to kill as many ads as possible as practicable.

Not that I'm supporting the behavior, but a lot of the insulting and abrasiveness comes from the frustration of running the same dungeon 30 times a week to get one drop. I just ragequit a ct run because we got to KB and none of the tanks wanted to MT. We had a volunteer for OT and we had one volunteer to MT even though he was new and had already gotten us wiped once by accidentally aggroing KB, but literally all the other tanks wanted to do was stand at a tower so they wouldn't have to do anything. We wiped at KB twice before another tank got voluntold, and we wiped at the first set of comets because people still haven't figure out how to place them. Honestly, I've not seen much improvement in player skill at CT since it was released, but I know my opinion is just biased because of the fact that I'm having to run the same dungeon so many times each week so I can get one item and I've had so many bad experiences in CT that it gets harder and harder to enjoy the good ones. CT was set up for failure from the start, being a 24 man raid which requires you to use df for at least 2/3 of the alliance, giving you one item a week, and giving that item a roughly 1/16 chance of dropping and still making you hope that you win the roll on it.

Silently vote dismiss the asshole if possible. I've never been in a dungeon where the asshole didn't get ejected by his teammates, even if he WAS a strongpoint in the team.I don't know about the rest of you, but when other people in your alliance insult you every few seconds just because you happen to be new to that particular dungeon, I have a mind to leave the run and call a GM. Why do people have to be so damn cruel? I'm not going to tolerate it. No one should have to.
Allow us to use the blacklist and support desk functions while in a dungeon, please.
You only get 1 every couple of hours. Put it to good use!

anyone feel like this is an excuse to censor forums so nothing bad is ever sad?"Negative effect on the community, yada yada"

I agree lots of people are dickheads when it comes to CT.
The most annoying part of it is people creating stress in the whole group, and not helping newcommers or people doing mistakes at all, spamming chat with useless comments. And you also know the insulting people are usually terrible players, so it will be hard to have a smooth run with these people in your alliance.
So, when you see something like this happening (and thankfully it doesn't happen all the time) you have to be smarter.
First of all, let the first angry wave pass upon the group: people will insult others, they will be harsh, some people will leave... let it happen.
Second, after the remade group meets his first fail, it's the time to stand and talk in alliance chat.
Be polite, don't be harsh. Ask the people to listen, and start explaining the boss strategy and what people can do to make it easier (note the word "can" and not "should"). If you are nice to people, they will listen, they will follow the strats, and the assholes will shut up after some time.
Don't give up, even if you get the insults, even if some idiots keep spamming while you explain stuff.
If you're not in the mood to lead the run, to explain fights, to ask who does what, which teams needs, help, which players needs to exchange spots etc etc... then please let someone else do it. It is annoying to do. It adds extra stress. Yet, if you wanna get out of CT asap (hopefully with a drop), someone have to get it done.
Really, you can turn an horrible failure run with everyone insulting people to a smooth (or at least ok) run, with little to no failure, and a chat log that isn't spammed of obnoxious comment... and get out of the tower.

yes lets spend a whole dungeon run putting up with absolute childish behavior from other players who just want to be rude, just for a chance at 3 chests that might just might put the gear you want in it? Yeah absolutely noooo ty on that one. I've only run it once and could have been fun if it was fully premade alliance. since its random its a complete joke. I say put the I80 gear into the hm dungeons and just watch ct die. heck treat it like the treasure maps you get a chest that pops up just for your character and if its not what they want they can pass and try again. then when they do get something they want poof lock it out for a week. that way everyone has a way more enjoyable time getting their gear and not having to put up with the stupidity that goes on in there.

The complete and utter toxic vitriol makes CT runs a headache inducing event for me. I don't mind explaining the fights. When I was new, I ran it with friends and asked them, "I've read up on this but can you tell me how this goes?" They and the party were helpful. So I understand, being new you make mistakes. Being human we make mistakes. I have never vote kicked a player for being new, I have vote kicked a player for either being afk and/or choosing not to do anything for 2 whole fights against Bone Dragon. I have never seen someone get dropped for being new in my parties. The same raid that this afk tank was kicked, we wiped and a bard told us he was new. No one initiated a vote kick for the new player and I was able to explain all of the fights.
But why in the world do people go out and troll purposely? It may be lame but people want to run it. I want my tomes and my gear drop with minimal amount of hiccups. Actions affect 23 other people and their time. If you're new, please speak up. Saying what can and should be done to make 23 other peoples' lives easier shouldn't be done while in the actual process of mistakes being made. The onus, in my opinion, is on new players to speak up. I assume you have no issues whatsoever if not said. I won't help if I don't know and instead try to have an enjoyable time in party chat while alliance chat goes to pot.

CT is the lulz
I went afk for rr, not even 1min
came back was called an idiot for being afk
i commented about person's mom and my bathroom habits
was promptly kicked
had a good 10 min laugh
better than getting the drop i was looking for
Ran over 20 CTs last week just to get anything I could grab that I could use (it seemed that almost everything that dropped were things I have [tank/heal gear] or things I just plain don't need [DRG is i90, MNK isn't leveled at all])
Only had one run that was bad, and it was vote-abandoned.
1/<20 runs that were bad. I've had worse results doing speed-runs when that was the way to get Myth...

The way crystal tower, it's loot system, and the df system in general are designed in a way that promotes selfish, self centered behavior.
Starting with the loot system. One item a week paired with a small number of randomly generated loot items means that anyone with a very specific piece in mind could be running ct many, many times in a week. They are not running the dungeon because it is fun, because for them any enjoyment has been leeched out through repetition.
The dungeon itself is just hard enough that if enough people don't know the established tactics it can really mess up the group. Not that any singular mistake (even a full alliance wipe) is a huge setback, but we've already established that most people are purely there for the most efficient runs possible.
Now consider that with the duty finder and the inability to queue in a group larger than 8 and now you have to deal with the phenomenon of faceless strangers on the Internet impeding the perceived potential for progression.
Combine all of these factors together and you basically have a filter that brings all the worst aspects of the people in this game and funnels it into a 30-45 minute raid.
