Game Crash, Unable to start playing.

Hello, I have just bought Final Fantasy XIV and after the installation was done I could not start the game.

I have tried to update the graphics drivers, reinstall the game, run it on admin settings, etc. None works.

Hardware looks fine. Is most likely a software problem. What exactly isn't working? Did the updater work? Could you configure the game? Does it crash after you click "start" or before? Whats the error message when it crashes?

I can configure the game, but I can not open the updater or the game.

Windows error on game, closes afterwards.

Nothing happens on updater.

Did you update directX? Also try closing all other applications that run in the background. It seems like the game is failing upon initializing D3D (yes the updater also uses D3D). Some applications hook into other applications D3D interface to show stuff like an UI (steam, mumble, etc.) which can cause problems.
I would also forward and open the ports that the updater needs (google ffxiv ports) or the game update will take years.

I had what sounds like the same issue with my laptop yesterday running an ATI 5800 card. The updated would open and then stop working with a windows error.

Turned out, I was still using the same ati drivers that came with the laptop last summer. I attempted to just update the drivers from ATI, it installed the CCC and some extra software but didn't update my drivers. I uninstalled the ATI software once more, went to the Device Manger and uninstalled (selecting the delete drivers check box) the drivers for the ATI Display adapter.

Following that, a reboot then re-install of ATI software and drivers, and another reboot had me up and running.

Yes it's also weird that your System Information thingie doesn't show anything behind driver version and date. Maybe the driver is broken?
