The hell is going on? My internet is working fine.
fire it up!
I'm getting it also
Same. Internet works just fine.
Disabling firewall didn't work. Admin mode didn't work.
It happened to me yesterday. I went to "documents/my games" and unchecked the "Read only" to all folders within that folder. Then restarted my PC. Dunno which of the 2 things fixed it for me, but it works now and it doesn't hurt to try.
It happened a few times for me. Rebooting worked fine, though I never understood what the problem was
So i was restarting windows, rebooting modem and shuting down system. none of that worked. Heres how i got mine working. I unplugged modem and let it sit 5 min. I then Shutdown my PC and then hit the power supply switch cutting off all power to the PC, then restarted everything and got in. I now remember having to hit the power supply switch for this problem last time (no F#$%n clue why). Hope this helps anyone, sorry guys, game on!
That error deals with one of two things:
1.) R/W access on the actual patch loader. Windows (specifically 8) loves to UAC everything and lock the read/write permissions of files (specifically Program Files x86). By unchecking/rechecking, you force UAC to check the access again and allow access (Windows 8 thinks you are not an admin with sufficient rights) Taking UAC to the lowest and marking the program to ALWAYS be run as an admin corrects the issue (I went in and disabled the whole UAC check garbage in the registry). You can also change the read/write permissions for users to the FFXIV folder, or even to the Program Files x86 folder (Windows makes this hard to do, but I operate under the idea that if I break crap, it's my own fault. I don't need Microsoft to kid glove me).
2.) Corrupted boot files/folder. For some reason when the MD5 is raised in the launcher files, Square doesn't attempt to fix the damaged files, but lets it just error out. You can usually Google a fresh copy of the boot folder and just let it update from there to fix it.
I'm on PS3, but I have to do this exact same procedure on my internet about once a week to keep the game running smoothly. Unplug modem and router, turn off my computer. Turn computer back on, plug modem and router back in. Once the internet's back up turn on the PS3.So i was restarting windows, rebooting modem and shuting down system. none of that worked. No idea why the internet on my PS3 goes bad even when my computer internet works fine. Nor why turning my computer off and on would affect the connection on my PS3. However, like the commercial says, "It's only crazy if it doesn't work." And it works.
