Yeah for the SP since the goal of leves is ultimately the SP. Let's say that a dungeon drops items/currency/reputation w/e, but that there is a reward attached to the fact that you do the dungeon. If putting it 5 stars does not increase the reward but just increases the difficulty of the monsters, no one will actually impose that handicap that will potentially hurt the reward they will get. Risk vs. reward. If greater risk is not providing greater rewards, the common sense is to not waste effort on it and just go the easy way.
In the light of all the controversy with those cap threads, I am bumping my thread to keep this viable solution visible and maybe get the dev's attention.
more "likes" if you agree would also be welcomed.
There definitely needs to be something in place to regulate challenge/rewards or create an upper limit. So r25 and r45 are the minimum requirements?
- so potentially all of my r30+ classes get automatically screwed out of a challenge. I definitely know people with all r30+ classes....sucks for them. r25 dungeon is now a waste =/
- no hope of mid ranks entering r45 content soon. (not too big of a deal, but still missed out on doing the r25 stuff with that class in a "fun" way)
- forces the player to make-up their own challenges. (w00t, just beat r25 place solo and naked on my r50. where's my achievement SE!?)
If specific content is optimized for r25/r45 lets keep it that way, or within +/- 5 ranks, however they want to do it. Especially since our options are limited. This isn't WoW with 3-4 different dungeons to choose from every 10 lvls. I can understand lifting a cap maybe after there are a crap ton of options for content like this.
Hate making throw backs to ffxi, but gear-sync'ing was pretty revolutionary. Would be sweet if I could take my lvl 43 mrd into the r25 dungeon and experience it on how it was meant to be played.
.....Screw gear-sync, I'd buy all new gear for that lvl over again just to do the dungeon.
It's like Halo, the game is meant to be played on Heroic, but since all you have is a r50 class, the only option of play is Easy Mode.
+1 to this. I'm all up for SEs giving me choices. And if they ever get around to implementing an achievement system, here are some of the challenges they could setup:There definitely needs to be something in place to regulate challenge/rewards or create an upper limit. - Fastest time to beat dungeon X (level 25 dungeon) at level 50: yy:zz
- Fastest time to beat dungeon X at level 40: aa:bb
- Some other combination of level and/or jobs (fastest time with PUG, etc.)
- Smallest party size to beat dungeon X (level 25 dungeon) at level-sync 20: 6
- Etc.
I know this doesn't need a bump since it's practically at the top but ... BUMP! And um ... how come none of the devs have commented on this? Have they even seen it? Bayohne, are you ignoring this small part of the world? :/ You're usually pretty good at bringing us news we want to see (from what I've seen anyway) so what about on this? I do remember a post by Bay saying that the dungeons will be difficult regardless of level (that's the impression I got anyway) so how is this?
Although I am in no position to say what is going to be for sure, I think when they say challenging is that the dungeons will be challenging for the level intended, once you out-level it I don't expect it to be challenging. Unless they are hiding a scaling factor that will keep it hard regardless of the average level of the group (they did say for balancing reason they had to keep the requirement of either 4 or 8 people).I know this doesn't need a bump since it's practically at the top but ... Also, Bayohne did say in another thread regarding level capped instances that they were not going to be capped and that there was no plan for that right now, I don't think he will come back and comment here, even if it's a slightly different subject and more of a suggestion for future content.
I still think this is one of the most reasonable suggestion regarding risk vs reward and the need for bigger challenges on top of allowing achievements to be put in the game, even get rewards for some achievements since everyone would need to complete them in a fair way.
Oh yeah, I had forgotten about the post he made about level caps. And I do hope there's a scaling factor for average party level. Of course that seems unlikely, but SE might surprise us for once. *holds breath* Actually that might kill me >< lol
