Another day, another bump ^^
I think that those who vote against having a cap on the cap poll should consider this compromise.

I just don't understand these dungeons. We've got this star system for leves that allows us to scale the difficulty of the battle by adjusted the level of the spawn creatures. But, from what I've read, they aren't planning to implement something like that for the dungeons?
Would it be too difficult to scale the dungeon based on either the number of stars selected or automatically to the highest level player in the group? That way, the mid level people still get a mid level dungeon while the high level people technically get two dungeons.
That said, I do like the idea of level syncing. If by the time my friend starts playing and most of my jobs are capped out, there's not much I can do with him except power level him.
Yeah, that's why dungeon scaling (like the star system or adjusting itself to the highest member) would not solve this. Either will just leave powerleveling the only outcome and robbing the lower level from his experience of the game. Syncing the higher level to the cap level gives you the chance to help lower level friend (or strangers) while leave the challenge as it was designed.
bumping again for rep's attention
Yea, I wasn't suggestion that dungeon scaling would solve the issue of higher level character from just plowing through the lower level dungeons. But rather, dungeon scaling can help turn a level 25 dungeon into a much more challenging (and maybe satisfactory) affair to players with higher level jobs. In effect, they would get two challenging dungeons to play with, while the lower level players would just have the one.Yeah, that's why dungeon scaling (like the star system or adjusting itself to the highest member) would not solve this. Seeing as how the poll thread have most people in favor of a level cap on the dungeons, this should be instituted just so that everyone can have their cake and eat it too.
Play dungeon at capped level = get good items
Play dungeon at level over cap = get normal items
is a good compromise that keeps the risk/reward ratios in check and balanced.

My Threads: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/s...vBForum_Thread
At least, even if we know that this ain't going to happen with those 2 upcoming dungeons, maybe it can get through to the devs that most people would like this cap business and maybe they can work something out, maybe like this optional cap suggestion, for the future contents.
just giving an option to scale it up or down does not help, less the rewards are better. no ones scales there leves to star5. there needs to be a real reason for it or no one will do it. most people in ffxi didn't even do there side quests, specially ones that took some work and party play for the mini bosses just cause not a good reward. they were fun to do. but yeah a reward for completing all like in assault captain would be great.
i've said this in other threads but since this is dev taged i'll add my ideas too, i'd for one like to see lots of things caped, from dungeons, mission battles and even side quests.
maybe give quests and missions sets(like3-4quests or missions = a set) ..maybe even like wotg quests they were linked to the missions. and give a reward at end of each set that can only be gotten by this, materia that depletes, gear that is unrepairable. specially for missions this would alow for replay value and keep new players who need this with others to do them with for long time.
last suggestion i have witch i dunno if will work but i don't see why not. having multiple server types for pve mmo's like ffxiv. mmo pvp games have multiple types of servers as well but pve kinds could cater to the different types of game play people like in there pve mmo's. from grinds, or caps.. no grinds, party play vs solo. can easily make all happy and not lose costomers of either side.

Making seperate server would just be more of a hassle and divide the population even more though. Making those cap optional would allow for both side to be happy while still have more people on the server.
Maybe I don't understand, but I scale my leves to 5. The gil rewards aren't much better, but the SP is.just giving an option to scale it up or down does not help, less the rewards are better. no ones scales there leves to star5. there needs to be a real reason for it or no one will do it. most people in ffxi didn't even do there side quests, specially ones that took some work and party play for the mini bosses just cause not a good reward. they were fun to do. but yeah a reward for completing all like in assault captain would be great.
