How about an achievement?
"I cleared [X] dungeon before patch [Y] and all I got was this lousy Achievement."
But it would only be visible from the Lodestone, and only visible to other players with the same Achievement.

Eh I think it'd be a nice gesture to honor these players, I've been in their shoes before & it just feels crappy to be homogenized when you spent 100+ hours across months on content the newcomers could now accomplish over maybe 15 hours in less than a week (hyperbole).
I don't think these players 'deserve' it per se, but I think it's an honor that should be seriously considered.

Well, I\\'m exempt from these "rewards" I speak of as I haven\\'t cleared even turn 1 yet.The reward of clearing the content before its nerfed is being able to show off the armor/rewards you got from it while the content is still "difficult". That\\'s it, that\\'s all you get. Maybe you\\'ll get an achievement or something but idk why you want to show off your e-peen like anyone cares that you cleared Twintania post-Twister nerf.
Let me be very clear, I\\'m requesting this on behalf of those players who have. Why? One, I can imagine how shitty it must feel to have your legacy turn to dust in a flash (you should think about that). And two, if I were in that position, I would surely feel bummed the hell out (as I\\'m fairly certain nigh-anyone would).

Please stop trying to represent your opinion on behalf of people who actually cleared Bahamut Coil. You even stated that you didn't clear t1 so why do you think you know how most of us feel from watching the patch preview?Well, I\\'m exempt from these "rewards" I speak of as I haven\\'t cleared even turn 1 yet.

My static and I clear coil every week for over a month now and I could care less if they nerf the content a little bit and remove lockout so more people can enjoy the story and have a realistic shot at completion. In fact, I'm looking forward to doing t5 with people in my friends and FC members that I never get a chance to coil with in 2.2.

Because I've previously stated that I've been in their shoes... just because I haven't yet in FFXIV, that doesn't mean the sentiment isn't still there--or the relation.
I have 10 years of MMO experience as a guild leader of hundreds upon hundreds of people... this lockout-removal/nerfing-content has happened numerous times before to me & thousands of others.
I also have been an active forum moderator/reader for each of these MMO's, I can speak to the voices.
Just because it doesn't apply to you personally, and perhaps your FC, doesn't mean it hasn't applied to countless others.
Please do not necro me any longer by asking me to stop giving my opinion from within my OWN thread.

Here\\'s the thing: working countless hours to possess those gear-pieces will mean shit when everybody has them like nothing.
Part of the fun & satisfaction of earning such things is showing them off or looking set apart (badass)... when all that gets taken away, it sucks hard.
For instance, we grind away endlessly to earn that shiny gold Magitek armor or Rank 10 Barding... now all of a sudden it only takes 25 commendations & rank 2 to earn them, with zero consolation. That burns deep.

I also want to feel special for doing AK when it was hard.

I don't know if it's been said but:
They're removing the cap on myth gear. This allows you to get i90 myth gear as fast as you like. It makes perfect sense to also remove the lockout for coil.

That's fine & good for some, but not for all. A huge number of achievers in MMO's want something to show for their accomplishments.
I know I can beat the end-game content of practically any MMO, I know with enough time & practice most others can too... I & thousands of others would like to be able to stand apart rather than simply fall victim to homogenization/gear-reset time & time & time again.
Honestly people, I don't think it's too much to ask to grant something visually minor for said accomplishments... what's the harm in this suggestion. Casuals get the option of defeating the content & earning those pieces for themselves in time, hardcores get something minor that lasts with them.
You get a reward. It's called you get to do Coil 6-9 right away as opposed to people that have to grind 1-5 the gear.
It's a MMO. Your leet gear WILL become obsolete. You WILL NOT get some sort of compensation for it other then being able to be the first to be able to grind for whatever the newest leet gear is. This is how MMOs work. This is how MMOs will ALWAYS work. If this arrangement is disagreeable, then I suggest a different game genre.
Though, as I have said in other posts, I would not be opposed to getting an achievement for beating coil without having the echo buff,(applied retroactively).
