How to deal with undercutters lmao

So, I have a process that usually works pretty well, depending o the item, and its rarity.

If you find you are being undercut, by a constant under cutter (regularly checks and lowers below you)

    Here is what I do.

I find my price point that I want for my item(s)
Then, when someone undercuts me, I undercut them back ,and see how long it takes them to respond.

If it is quick enough, there is a nice way to make your money.

Undercut them immediately. Set a goal in mind, that you want to pay for that item, continue undercutting war, until you get their item at a price where you can resell for profit.

You would be surprised how low some people will go, just to try and be lowest.

If you want to figure out the price where your profit begins.

    a+b+c/x=avg. price

a,b,c ect., Are the prices you paid for said item. You divide by the number or items you bought to find your average price.

    EX.- bought 3 nuggets, 1 for 1k, 1 for 1.5k, 1 for 1.35k
Now add up 1000+1500+1350=3850/3= 1283 is your average price.

So as long as you are selling above that price, after taxes you are making money.

It's not as fancy as say selling a single million dollar item, but it works, and you can make constant cash flow.

Make sure that you take into consideration, the sales history of items before you buy.
If it's not moving fast, then you are stuck with a product in your inventory.

    Good Luck Happy hunting!

Cool idea, but you most definitely need to know the viability of selling 2 (stacks of) items as apposed to just 1, otherwise the other dude will think "hey my item sold, better make another few" and then it all starts over before you can sell.

Still this is a more subtle way than what is happening on my server. I have been spam /whispered by a crafter who thinks LL belongs to him. I have been threatened and name-called to death to leave "his" city. I prefer the more subtle turf wars and this suggestion of yours may just work in my situation

This only works if the other person doesn't immediately resupply at the same price you bought out for. I've had someone do that with me, undercut war from 15k to 8k, then bought it out. I just put up another at 8k again. Couple of days later, he put it up at 4k because he couldn't get rid of it.

Here's the flaw with that plan: The guy undercutting you could easily just buy your stuff if his limit is slightly higher than yours, then resell your stuff as well as his own stuff at a higher price

I'm an undercutter. The reason I do it is because I've got 30 of the same item, and I don't want to wait weeks before I see all the gil. My objective is to sell all of it, and ill never put it up for a price I'm not comfortable with. So if you want to have an undercutting war, only to purposely give in and buy my entire inventory... sounds great to me! And good luck selling all of those before March...

I really dont bother with undercutters. 9 out of 10 times your items get sold a little later. And the 1 time I get realy undercut I pull the item of them market and spiritbind them.

Doesn't work on me - same opinion with Lyrinn:

Good plan, except that nothing is stopping the "undercutter" from just putting up more. Hey, if I could get you to buy some item for a small profit for me every time, I could be the walmart of FFXIV. And you'd be sitting on a huge inventory with no buyers.
