Players must not realize how this works..

After reading many threads, and ofcourse personal experience.. I have come to the conclusion 90% of the pbase has no idea how the markets actually work with regards to the difference in what city-state the item is being sold in.

The main thing here I would like to point out is extremely simple, obviously not well known, and would stop the trend of undercutting by 1 gil or another trivial amount.

Here is how this works... PlayerA is selling an item in gridania for 10k.. PlayerB is selling the same item in Limsa for 9,999 gil.. PlayerC is wanting to purchase said item and is currently in gridania. Now.. if PlayerC buys the item from PlayerB, they actually end up paying 10,494 gil due to the 5% tax (currently set at 5% across the board for me)... but.. if PlayerC buys the item from PlayerA, since the item is in gridania and there is no tax(delivery) charge.. then that item will cost exactly 10k.

    PLEASE LEARN THIS PEOPLE!!!

Most people understand, but, there are always the exception to the rule.

Like when I go to sell fish and see a bunch of them listed for lower than the NPC trade in price.

Of course, I just buy up all of those fish for 3 gil and trade them in for 4... but, yea, some people just don't understand how it works.

Nothing is quite as frustrating as seeing items on the Market selling for less than the vendor price. :/ I made 30k one night buying all the stuff I saw with a vendor price higher than the market price plus the fee to buy it. It took about an hour of sorting through a couple sections of the Market board while I was waiting for a dungeon.

The OP makes a valid point, but for most players, the difference is chump change. If we are talking a stack of items for 40 gil each @ 5% tax: 4158 gil vs a stack of items at 41 gil each with no tax: 4059... that's a difference of 99 gil. For some people, scrolling down to find the lower price, checking the difference, etc is not a great expenditure of time, over 100 gil.
