They can't even provide direct download options for a 300mb patch. How would they be able to support a full client download? They would have to partner with another service to make this available.

They would piss more people off paying for a game that isn't worth the money. It would get worse of a rep than it already has, and it would fail faster than it already is. Hell, if they said i could send back my CE for a refund i'd do it. Maybe try again in 2 years.Wait, what? SE doesn't want people to give them money?
Even following what you're saying, you have to consider this. If SE, today, were to start charging a monthly subscription fee, there would be some people that would pay it and continue playing. Yes, it's safe to say a lot (probably most) would not, but there are some people that are willing to pay for this on a regular basis.
Logic would then dictate that more people playing would mean more subscriptions. Any way you look at it, it's in SE's best interest to distribute the game as much as possible.

If SE wanted to sell the game now they would be charging us cause thats were the real money is, subscriptions. I personally dont think they would want to push potential players away by telling them this game is awesome now and they should buy it immediately. Thats just crazy talk to think otherwise, they know they dont have a finished product so why would they market it.Wait, what? SE doesn't want people to give them money?

I give FFXIV a 7/10
I give FFXI a 4/10
I give WoW a -1/10
I give SE a 11/10
I give my review judgment a 2/10...
Good day D:
In what way does this add to the discussion of a downloadable client..?
I do agree with your review judgement score, though.
I'm guessing you posted in the wrong thread by accident.
Steam (and other DD services) charges something like 30%. F2P games on Steam are also all cash store games that give Valve a percentage off in-game puchases. Either way, Steam doesn't work for free.
I agree that the client should be available for download. By the time of the PS3 release it'll be patched all to hell, so a fresh install would work more optimally, and it's a way to support their subscribers who bought a copy of the game with a broken install disc.
