Recently there have been a number of posts about the game dropping in population. The speculation on whether or not the game is "dying" has been rampant since server populations were removed from the game.
With a new patch coming out that is supposed to "save" the game and draw back lots of players, I think it is time for SE to post its server statistics on a monthly basis.
This would end the speculation about the game being empty or dying, and show that the new dev team's actions are successful and bringing people back. As a result, people would be more optimistic about the game knowing that it has a growing or healthy population, and be more inclined to invest their time into it.
Further it will help to end all the negativity about how the dev's current actions are not having enough effect. It will prove that the game is becoming a success, and it will help attract new players who will realize that the FFXIV community is growing and will continue to do so.
The first post should come with patch 1.18 and then another a month later to show people that the changes to the core mechanics have been a success.
There is no downside to releasing server populations. It would show that SE is honest, open, and committed to FFXIV.
