It's sort of funny how this whole hardcore/casual nonsense is just extended gear drama. "Hardcore" players want to lock others out of content/loot so they can feel superior, "casual" players want access to everything to ape "hardcore" players. It's just one long extended blow up over loot. Though it's never got anything to do with the health of the game or how fun it is. Just two sides locked in a pointless battle so they can feel better about their time spent in a game.
I'm really not playing this game any more, but i'm going to keep paying for it.
I would like to see where this game is at a couple patches after the first expansion.
Maybe you guys should have the right mindset. You should only be playing this game to get new gear. You only beat Twintania because you want Allagan weapon. When (s)he's no longer relevant, you don't want the gear (s)he drops. Why? There's better gear.
Remember when Twintania was nearly impossible? How many people beat it? Oh? Only one? Your accomplishment means nothing since it was nerfed after the world first.
However, I don't believe the nerf is necessary. Getting new gear will automatically make it easier for groups to complete and gear doesn't compensate for poor mechanics (see Titan EM).
No, I plan on using the items I get from what I did previously to help me get through the next tier of content. People aren't going to be skipping content that's already in the game just because something better is available, nobody is going to be entering coil turn 6 with an Ifrit weapon, they still have to get something to hit the turn 6 boss with.
Don't forget about alt jobs/classes as well, it'll be nice to have some accessible options to gear them up with that doesn't necessarily require myth points.
If you have a problem with Coil 1 being trivialized, then how about you clear it faster? Truth is, it got trivialized in 2.1 when gear was thrown at everyone. My only hope is that S/E adds more than four bosses to Coil 2. And another tomestone is redundant. I like WoW's method of putting old gear on the "philosophy" tomestone and adding new gear to the "mythology". So AF2 would be from uncapped philosophy and the best gear would once again be from capped mythology. Having a third tomestone with its own cap is just making useless clutter. If they're going to copy badges from WoW, they could at least do it right.
As long as turn 6-9 is pretty grueling, I don't really care. Most of you haven't even cleared turn 5.
lol, really? you're complaining about progression... are you serious right now? You want to wear the same armor for 10 years?
You do realize once they raise the level cap and you jump into Twintania, your level will be synced to 50.
A level 50 dragoon can't run into Sastasha and solo the last boss mate.
my god, these forums.
It's been done before in ff11 and that game had close to 500 k subscribers for 10 years and was SE's largest money maker of all time and you're acting like it some kind of amazingly stupid way of thinking that's beyond comprehension.lol, really? you're complaining about progression... are you serious right now? Nocturnal84 did you even play FFXI, no they didn't, 50 cap raised to 60 then we had af1, which next they raised cap to 75 and we had dynamis gear af2, we had sky gear, chains of prom gear, toau gear, it didn't stay the same for years the list goes on when did you stop playing?
time line 50 > 55 > 60 > 65 > 70 > 75 which were months and close together in 2002 - 2003 and onward.
things changed it didn't take years. If you're saying something different sorry but I don't know what game you were playing. I couldn't continue at friends so I had to buy my own after he moved out of state which i started fresh on the ps2 NA and 2004.
