Actually I haven't seen anyone recording server/world firsts...in fact this is the only game I've played where I honestly couldn't even name you who got the firsts, even on my own server.
Other games I've played usually rewarded players for getting server firsts with special items.

Seems we're having a misunderstanding here, what I really meant was the players. Just look around youtube or dig down threads here, and you'll see a "World First / Server First" tag on it.

I've been on some games who rewards players who gets server firsts as well, but those are just for the sake of their event. Dragon Nest usually holds an event whenever there's a new Dragon raid coming, rewarding a cash prize and some exclusive titles for the first 5 or say first 1 to clear it.

Probably, a better solution just to satisfy the e-peens of these people is for SE to hold on an ingame event as well which will reward them a special item. Isn't that a win-win situation? Giving the players something to work for.
