    Yes. FFXIV ARR has some WoW elements. Like every other MMO has. WoW took a LOT of its stuff from other MMOs on their own.

    The only thing that made me scream WoW really REALLY loud was frigging Sastasha. You can put it however you want. This is Dead Mines. Those Dead Mines with first Boss a Zerobrain of a pirate and the last boss a scalekin cussing at the human pirate. But I get the feeling that somehow is a weird kind of easteregg.
    Apart from that, what exactly is WoWish in FFXIV that is not like that in other games?
    Each class is completely different to WoW. How to progress through the storyline is different (Yes WoW HAS story, but you need to stick to killing wolfs and pigs for a long time to be famous enough for the leaders to let you in on the problems of azeroth). the only other thing that is WoWish is the "being unable to change gear during fights"

    No one asked for FFXI-2, that's not what we wanted.

    But that doesn't mean they had to go and abandon everything that made XI good either. My gripe with vertical progression is it trivializes everything that came before it, so you end up with less or the same content at all times. It's a very short-sighted approach to design and ultimately is counter-productive; it kills incentive to go and experience the older stuff for current players while new ones will generally breeze through it never knowing what it was like originally (it also makes it difficult to find people to help do that content, which is the real reason we have the silly roulette).

    Before Abyssea ruined it all there was:

    - Garrison
    - Expeditionary Forces
    - Fields of Valor
    - Sky
    - Sea
    - Dynamis
    - Limbus
    - Assault
    - Nyzul Isle
    - Pankration
    - VNMs

    Sorry if I missed anything but I think I got all or most of it. The point is stuff was done in XI to last, with enjoying the content itself first and foremost, the shiny gear at the end second. If 1 event was too hard or didn't interest you, you could go and do a different one for comparable gear. There was no shortage of things to do in Vana'diel. Hydaelin by comparison, while very pretty, is ultimately a dull, boring place that simply jumps from the latest fad to the next.

    EDIT: Forgot about Salvage and Einherjar, those were awesome as well. And the weekly escort quests.

    I was really hoping Yoshida would have addressed the massive faults in this games structure, but who am I kidding? Since when does Square-Enix do anything proper these days?

The mass majority of the population focused on the stuff above; but tell me, after 6 years+ of sky/sea, how much actual fun was it for people?     I miss XI just as much as the next guy, but how much of that nostalgia would actually last if this game WAS XI-2? i personally wouldn't want another XI; it took way too long to do anything...even in its current form it takes forever to do things.

    I don't feel betrayed. Yes there are some glaring issues that need to be addressed, but overall I haven't felt the urge to unsub or flip tables at anyone. ;3

    I removed everything that didn't come out till after the second expansion. Okay, you say you don't want FFXI-2 but you want the 7+ years of content from FFXI in the first 6 months of FFXIV. That's realistic.... How about you compare FFXI six months after NA launch to FFXIV ARR then decide which has more content.

    This right here. Can you image the reaction if 2002 FFXI was launched today with pretty graphics? Half the people would unsub after a week of trying to find an xp party.

    To make a long story short... No, I don't feel betrayed. I hardly ever go into games expecting a particular thing from them to satisfy myself to any certain degrees.

    I just play the game because I enjoy it for what it is. If there is something that I feel could be tweaked a bit, I provide feedback.

    But all in the same, I realize that feedback is just what it is as well... feedback. The devs take it as a suggestion and see if it works or not in the grand scheme.

    So, at the end of the day, I simply play. I expect nothing.

    I'm not betrayed but Im very disappointed! The game is nothing but an hub instanced like it is in every other MMO. Exploration, a sense of danger, Open worldness, some meaningfull pvp or city territorial control, SMN soloed 20 primals, Took longer to get JSE gear, and other stuff. None espected FFXI-2 but we did expect some sense of a non wow clone!

    Oh great, another Legacy player complain fest. Isn't this like the 12th thread this week now? (Maybe even more I may have missed.) This game is not going to ever be like XI, this game is never going to be like 1.0
    1.0 is dead, and for good reason. If it was "successful" why would they have overhauled the game? Also I played 1.0 for a year straight. Only reason I stuck around was for friends. The whole game was terrible, slow combat, laggy, and had an absolutely terrible interface (And don't get me started about animation locks.). Also there was nothing "Challenging" in 1.0 besides Nael Van Darnus EX.

    SE chose to take a safe route with ARR, and it worked. This game has plenty of subscribers to keep the game going, and SE made plenty of their moneys worth back. And "vertical" progression? Welcome to every MMO in the current day and age. No one has the time anymore to invest in doing old content when there is new content. Out with the old, in with the new!

    Also to anyone saying they were "Betrayed" get over yourself. You are one person in a sea of millions of players. No one cares about your entitlements. All this forum is a cesspool of legacy players whining and complaining that the game isn't what they wanted. If you don't like what you are seeing, go to the Mog Station and unsubscribe. It is as simple as that. Don't come to the forums acting like your solo opinion matters. People like this scare new players away from the game when they look at the forums because all they see in the front page is "Game is Dead" "1.0 was better"

    So, let's stop this rose tinted glasses act and move on please. We all have evidence that 1.0 was bad. It's dead and it is not coming back. In the mean time let's enjoy this game that we now have. Instead let's be more productive and have more suggestions for future content instead of 1.0 had this, 1.0 had that.
