The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
Actually they did originally design FFXIV to be a successor to FFXI with the same target group. They even deliberately kept the races very very similar in appearance to let ppl carry over the feeling of their characters.
It just ended up total derail from what it's supposed to be.
I need to ask, what is your problem with "vertical gear progression" of course you need better gear (going up) for harder content.
Or do you want to see your tank wear Level 1 gear on Ifrit Ex?
Why do people always think this is made for FFXI fans, if I remember right, very early, even with 1.0 it was said "FFXIV won't be a FFXI-2"
There are some thing in ARR that irk me.
Stuff that isn't included, although SE learned from FFXI people want it (which also is in other MMOs so not FFXI exclusive stuff.)
Sending stuff to your alts. Being able to store more of your gear .
Nothing that would make me stop playing ARR.
You don't like it? Fine. Nobody forces you to play it.
Sucked is a pretty hard term for 1.0
They were too bold with new ideas, ideas that sounded good on paper but were a nightmare to play. 1.0 Had a sweet story, I liked the EARLY progression more. That each city also had something different happen as starting mission also was lovely. The crafting idea was nice but confusing. Gathering was confusing and you almost needed a degree in applied sciences for each gathering job. The stress 1.0 put on Computers also was more than crazy.
I still think FFXI-2 would have been more fun. Just saying! I mean apparently they went with the watered down WoW formula and it's still going to end up with the same population FFXI was @ for like 7+ years. So why not just be original or go back to their niche game roots? Sure this game might have hit a higher number than FFXI, but lets see if it has the stamina to last as long.
But then again, SE has much lower standards than most companies. 500,000 subs might be a success to SE, but to Bioware/EA 500,000 subs was a failure.
I don't feel betrayed because I remember that they said they will nerf and remove lockouts of old content as new higher level ones with HIGHER ilevel Gears as their rewards are released.
Most likely you may need at least ilevel 85+ just to survive turn 6 -9
I expected to play a Final FantasyMMO not WoW HD (featuring FF people's)
1.22 was good balance of the game. One main issues was removing so many items from crafting system and make everything dated. That & removing +2 & +3 materials and gear. Materia system was really good, kept market afloat. ARR need patches like these ones, game changing.Sucked is a pretty hard term for 1.0

Betrayed? Hardly.
Disappointed they didn't adress crafting and tanking issues outside of very light encouragement instead of actual reworking? A bit.
Seriously? A mount and a few more recipes? That's not really going to solve anything. These problems are in the core mechanics and structure.
