Wonderfully put, thank you.ARR isn't even 6 months old yet, so it is still in it's "toddler" stage as far as MMOs are concerned. How often do you hear of a "toddler" with adult skills and abilities? The only major issue this game has is a lack of patience among a small portion of it's players. SE can't do anything about that, and I'm glad they aren't wasting resources trying to.
its a betrayal more for 1.0 player that has been supporting the game all this time, why invest all this time until 1.23, and until now , to have what we call a good game now...?
so boring and empty game
just look at where we going, nothing new really, just vertical gear progression with 3 mode primals, few dj and thats all
i dont see the point, in subbing until first expansion release
we gonna see after the 6 month mark ( what most have subbed), but i think, SE gonna take a big slap in the face
wasting ressources lol ? because all those ressources on ton of furnishing, minion, are not wasted ?ARR isn't even 6 months old yet, so it is still in it's "toddler" stage as far as MMOs are concerned. and stop the "6 month game" plea, vertical gear progression, et making content obsolete fast is part of their game design , it has nothing to do with game lifespan
I agree with you OP. I don't really feel betrayed but i do feel disappointed. I waited 3+ years for this to come to ps3 and i must say, what i recieved was a huge let down. Now i must say i did like some stuff they did in 2.1, like adding the dailies so i don't need to grind out so many of the same dungeons and be harassed by the rude people that seem to dwell in this community.
A few points that you pointed out was how you really have no freedom to customize, which i totally agree with. FFXI had a much better system in place(pre-abyssea). I mean hell, you could even use almost any weapon type on WAR if you wanted to. And the gear was so varied that you could have multipule builds for the same class. Do any of you remember FFXI when the MNK MND build was used on Kirin? Stuff like that makes you feel very free in a game and not gated @ all. I even remember BRDs tanking Fafnir in Dragons Aery. Also FFXI PLD > FFXIV PLD anyday!

I've supported SE since the original Nintendo days. I know it sounds strange, but FFVII was and is still my favorite installment. Since Sephiroth isn't in the series...should I feel betrayed? Hardly.its a betrayal more for 1.0 player that has been supporting the game all this time, why invest all this time until 1.23, and until now , to have what we call a good game now...?

Slap in the face huh? For every 1 player trying to "slap" them in the forum or something, there will quite literally be 100 other players completely not noticing you trying to "slap" someone.
Leave it to the "simple" minded people to call all that "whining". I guess this is a great example as to why game communities suck now. You write all that with very valid points just to have fools come in and belittle it into "whining". And people say we're entitled? It's the newer generation of games that have bred such stupidity. I blame COD!
1.0 sucked, get over it.
XIV was, ARR clearly wasn't. XI fans were the primary target audience for XIV, the very reason Tanaka & Komoto started it to begin with. Sometimes I just wish they'd been given another year to sort out the bugs. Though I will say I much prefer ARR's more polished look (especially the fonts) it just doesn't feel like an FF game to me. It feels like WoW/GW2 with an FF skin laid over it.
For all his talk about making this game a "Theme Park" YP hasn't done anything to deliver on that. Quite the opposite in fact. A theme park is supposed to have variety, something for everyone to enjoy and not just the latest flavor of the month. XI had theme park written all over it. Sadly, Matsui pretty much destroyed that game as well.

You're missing the big picture. First of all, this isn't a "toddler" MMO - technically the game's been out for nearly 4 years and a good chunk of the old XI team is still working on it. More importantly, it's the overall design choices and direction the game is going in I have a problem with and no amount of updates is going to magically change that. It's something YP has to commit to and he's clearly shown otherwise. This game is just going to keep introducing more throw away content as older stuff is rendered irrelevant in a never-ending gear chase.
I have no interest in that. I was hoping this would turn into a more modern FFXI, with much better mechanics while maintaining that sense of community and emphasis on enjoying the content - the thrill should be in the chase itself, not the end reward but that's what we got. That's how people get bored with these games and eventually folks will realize it's just the exact same content over and over with a new coat of paint on it. There's no real lasting appeal, only life in the moment - which is very brief.

So you wanted FFXI-2 and got FFXIV instead..... Going to go with option A here and say "Go play FFXI then."
